Subj:[mmp-chat] Junction Jim's Campo Report for 7-27-05
Date:7/27/05 3:50:55 PM Central Daylight Time

Yesterday, 7-26-05 was one of the more peacefull days and nights we
have had since being here. As you know the group I am in is Sp Ops
charged with shutting down all "traffic" in a certain canyon, known
for its heavy foot travel, and hard drug entry. As it is one of the
largest canyons, it has a volumn to match, and we were asked
unofficially to close it by the Border Patrol, and officially by Mr.
Jim Chase. We had been trying various methods, for the past week,
with varying degrees of success. 25 illegals snuck through three
nights ago, and all but six were caught lower down later on by B.P.
agents. Even though we had about eight men for a good part of the
night, they snuck through in the fog. The last two nights however,
we have found the key to "corking" the bottle. One of our members who
is a fireman by day, brought his small 2200 watt generator, 4-500
watt halogen floodlights, and presto... daylight all night in the
canyon! No more coyotes sneaking their "pollos" through! Just like
their kin, the coyotes and cukarachas don't like the light. They
avoid it like the plague! One tank of gas in the generator runs
exactly from dusk 'till dawn. It's easy to surveille the remaining
area with our night vision scopes and bionic ear. Yesterday, our
group's leader had a chat with the coyote who "has"our area. He came
strolling up to the rail area of our fence, and him and Brett had a
fairly long conversation! The coyote was dressed with a red hat, and
cammys, and was armed with a bolt action scoped rifle of unknown
caliber. Brett greeted him and told him that the Minutemen were here
and he couldn't come through here anymore, and the coyote said,"Si."
Brett then said that the coyote would have to find another place to
come through at, and the coyote again said,"Si." All in all, I guess
he was a pretty congenial coyote, as coyotes go! After a five to ten
minute discussion, the coyote left, after "admiring" our camp and
pretty flags. He had been unable to get any of his "pollos" through
for the last two nights, and I guess you could take his compliments
as a concession of defeat, at least untill we leave in ten days. If a
coyote trespasses on another coyote's "turf", there is a war, unless
the invading coyote pays a mordida(bribe) to the offended coyote.
Note: EVERYTHING in Mexico runs on the "MORDIDA". It's a way of
life, believe me. Police officers(Mexican) are NOT welcomed into a
neighborhood in Mexico, as they are here, as the officer is soon
taking mordidas from the local residents in his district! This is
the cause of much of the crime in Mexico. Not all crime comes from
the drug cartels. Much of it is just good old fashioned mafia type
crime. I guess the picture that Glen Spencer took of Ca. MM was of
our camp on the Campo Line alright. I just made a couple for
souvenirs! It takes "cajones" to sleep just twenty-five feet from
one of the worst drug trafficing areas in the world, and know that
you're also "pissing off" the local coyote! I really think that they
understand that it would be very, very, bad for business to actually
shoot a MM Volunteer. Our guys had seen Glenn's plane, but had
trouble locating it, but finally did. They had been thinking it was
a drug enforcement plane or something, but now they're famous! I was
not in camp at the time, as I run in most of their supplies, and
usually don't go up until just before dark, so I can also look at the
goons' camp on the way up, and get some idea as to what they're up to
for the evening. I made up a flagpole stand this morning, to fly our
yellow rattlesnake flag from, up on top of our observation tower. I
erected it when I ran up the guys' ice and water. I had forgotten to
bring down the empty gas can, so I brought it down on the way back.
We are now flying one brilliant yellow rattlesnake flag that
says "Don't tread on me" on top of the tower, one American Flag on a
large rock near camp, and my 3X5 American Flag about half way down
the hill towards the canyon bottom. It looks like we're "conquering"
the hill one flag at a time! We're expecting more goons this
weekend, just so's Cindy Lou from Texas can have a half dozen or so
for herself! I believe Jim G.'s going to be here by the weekend, and
some senator is also coming to inspect the Border. I only got 2 1/2
hours sleep again last night, and that is not real good sleep, as you
have to sleep with the earpiece in your ear with the volumn turned
down in case of emergency, so you still hear all the radio traffic
going on, and of course we are generating some "phony" traffic of our
own to keep them thinking that there are more of us than there really
is.

More to come tomorrow. I've got to eat lunch and try to get some
sleep.
