Starbucks response on corporate sponsorship of NCLR
I wrote a letter to Starbucks when I found that they are corporate sponsor of NCLR. This is the response I received in the mail yesterday:
Dear Ms. Shelton,
Thank you for taking the time to contact Starbucks Coffee Company.
I was very concerned to hear about your feedback. To address the situation directly I have shared your comments with the appropriate departments. I can assure you that Starbucks does not endorse or promote discriminatory behavior.
Starbucks is guided by a set of six principles outlined in the company's Mission Statement. One of these principles states that we are to "embrace diversity as an essential component in the way we do business." Each partner (employee) participates in orientation classes that serve to reinforce all of our guiding principles, but special emphasis is put on the need to treat everyone with respect and dignity.
I hope this letter adequately demontrates Starbucks aim as a company. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us at info@starbucks.com or call (800) 23- LATTE.
Sincerely,
Kelly E.

Obviously they totally avoided the focus of my letter to them about supporting National Council of La Raza. I pointed out that they are donating thousands to a racist organization. That was the entire point of my letter.....does it sound as though she addressed that? Did I miss something?"Remember the Alamo!"

Dear
Thank you for writing Starbucks Coffee Company.
At Starbucks, we embrace diversity as an essential component of the way we do business. We embrace all people and promote an environment that is respectful and inclusive for everyone.
As a way to reflect the global community we serve, we actively look for ways to celebrate diversity through volunteering, product donations and sponsorships. We are also deeply committed to supporting our partners' passion for their individual communities by matching financial gifts and supporting volunteer time they give to local organizations. We believe our best opportunity to engage in the community is through their efforts.
To learn more about how Starbucks supports our global community, please see our Corporate Social Responsibility Report at www.starbucks.com.
Again, thank you for contacting Starbucks Coffee Company.
Sincerely,
Julie S.

Looks like they avoided the question about La Raza being racist in your letter also.
