NEW YORK (Reuters) - Carly Fiorina has emerged as the Republican candidate of the moment in conservative fundraising circles, drawing the notice of the billionaire Koch brothers and other wealthy donors who could instantly remake her shoestring presidential campaign.

Fiorina's show-stealing performance in a Republican presidential debate last month, and her subsequent surge in the polls, has prompted industrialists Charles and David Koch to take a “serious look” at the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, according to three sources close to the brothers.

She has now moved to the short list of candidates the Kochs may support with their reported $1 billion war chest, the sources said.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio is among those on the coveted list, the sources said.

A spokesman for the Kochs declined to comment

Other politically powerful mega donors are also lining up.

Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens hosted a packed luncheon at a posh Dallas venue for Fiorina in late September, while venture capitalist Tom Perkins is planning a fundraising gala in California in the next few months.

“My money is on her,” said Perkins, who served on HP's board during Fiorina's tenure. “I think she could be president.”

As the only woman on stage at the Sept. 16 debate, Fiorina emerged as the most effective candidate in taking on front-runner Donald Trump, chastening the celebrity real estate magnate for his controversial comments about her looks.

“The emails have not stopped" since then, said seasoned California political fundraising consultant Karolyn Dorsee, who is working on behalf of several Republican presidential candidates, including Rubio and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. "Everybody wants her, nationwide, in every single state.”

Even before her rapid rise in the polls - she has vaulted to second place in the key early voting state of New Hampshire - Fiorina had already garnered about $2 million in support from the likes of reclusive hedge fund baron Robert Mercer and former Univision CEO Jerrold Perenchio.

    "SHE'S PRETTY VIABLE"
Fiorina's campaign now appears far less of a long-shot than it did over the summer, when she was struggling with sparse crowds, scant name recognition and a coffer of just $5 million that put her at the bottom of the money race.

Her campaign thus far has been a bare-bones operation, relying on a young, relatively low-paid, skeletal staff as opposed to the sprawling operations built by more well-endowed candidates like Bush.

Support from the Kochs would change her operation overnight.

“We think she’s pretty viable,” said broadcasting billionaire Stanley Hubbard, a member of the Koch brothers' network of conservative advocacy groups who donates heavily to political candidates.

The Kochs have been keeping a close eye on Fiorina ever since she announced in May, the Koch sources said. They extended an invite to her to speak at their exclusive summit of rich donors at an oceanfront luxury resort in August along with Rubio, Bush, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Fiorina, the lowest polling candidate at the gathering, impressed the big money attendees with her mastery of policy detail and heavyweight stage presence. "She's good in the room," said one participant at the event, who declined to be named.

The Fiorina campaign, and the independent fund-raising Super PAC supporting her, declined comment.

The Kochs, who own America’s second-largest private company, have backed Fiorina in the past, notably when she ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer for her California Senate seat in 2010.

At the time, the Kochs had helped mount a campaign for Proposition 23, a ballot measure designed to suspend the state law banning higher carbon emissions that was ultimately defeated. Fiorina also supported the measure. A Koch Industries PAC helped sponsor a Washington fundraiser for Fiorina at the time and gave $10,000 to her campaign.

As Fiorina's money problems fade, some high dollar donors who have already contributed are now considering doubling down. Dallas philanthropist Elloine Clark has so far written one $100,000 check to the Super PAC supporting Fiorina. She says she may give more. “I think she’s unflappable,” said Clark. “And she doesn’t react like an adolescent.”

Some rich people are so stupid!!

She's an unflappable liar, that's for sure.

Yet, she can't decide whether to refuse to talk to Putin (2nd debate) or talk to Putin now that he's running airstrikes in Syria.

Carly Fiorina: As mentioned, Fiorina has called for the Western powers to protect their allies in the Syrian rebellion. “I believe we must tell the Russians that we will conduct… we will secure a no-fly zone around anti-Assad rebel forces that we’re supporting,” she told Sean Hannity of Fox News on Wednesday night.

When the same question was put to Carly Fiorina (in 2nd debate two weeks earlier), she had a starkly different take. “I wouldn’t talk to him at all, we’ve talked way too much to him,” Fiorina said. And she listed several specific steps that she would take as US president to deal with Putin.

“I would begin rebuilding the missile defense program in Poland. I would conduct regular, aggressive military exercises in the Baltic States. I’d probably send a few thousand more troops into Germany. Vladimir Putin would get the message,” Fiorina said.

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Businesswoman turned presidential candidate Carly Fiorina called for "rebuilding" the United States 6th Fleet to check Russian aggression during CNN's Republican Presidential Debate on Wednesday.

Fiorina issued the call as a response to a question by debate moderators on how each candidate would deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in light of the country becoming more active in the Syrian conflict.

Talk to Putin. Don't talk to Putin. Talk to Putin. Don't talk to Putin.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

Talk to Putin. Don't talk to Putin. Talk to Putin. Don't talk to Putin.

Eemie, meemie miney mo, catch a tiger by the toe.

Honestly?! This is what rich philanthropists with money to burn think is "unflappable"? Fiorina can't even decide who she wants to talk to about what, when. But she's hell bent on starting WWIII, with expanding the 6th fleet to threaten Russia, moving troops in towards Russia to threaten them more and putting missile defense in Poland to threaten them totally.

And she's Number Two in New Hampshire Republican Primary??!! This woman served on some CIA Advisory Committee???!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

    REALLY????!!!!!!

Koch bros and other dirties go with those that will do their will which makes her very dangerous for Americans. They make their monies in many ways but to single one out, they destroy the health and cause asthma and cancers to our populace, children included, by coal production. She obviously is working them for her supreme career goal - "scratch and claw" master that she is.

They also try desperately to stop clean renewable energy sources - they do not want wind or solar to expand.

And of course their notorious strong connection to "Citizens United".......
The Supreme Court dealt a painful blow to our democracy, opening the floodgates for unlimited corporate dollars to flow into federal elections in its 5-4 Citizens United v. FEC ruling. Due to a conflict of interest, its possible the ruling should never have even been made.

The New York Times and other media outlets have reported that prior to the Court’s decision, the infamous Koch brothers - oil magnates, free market fundamentalists, and Citizens United beneficiaries – paid for Justices Thomas and Scalia to appear as featured guests at secretive political strategy meetings.

Thomas and Scalia should have recused themselves from the case...but they didn't, and resulting in corporations pouring money into the 2010 elections at unprecedented levels. A wave of politicians were installed in office who are now hard at work sweetening the pot for the wealthiest corporations at the expense of working Americans, people's health, our environment.

Pro-amnesty big business groups attracted to Carly

    October 5, 2015
    By Ed Straker

How can anyone honestly say that Carly Fiorina is unattractive? It's quite the opposite, especially when it comes to pro-amnesty big business interests, who are flocking to her banners now that she has had a taste of Donald Trump's blood.

Carly Fiorina has emerged as the Republican candidate of the moment in conservative fundraising circles, drawing the notice of the billionaire Koch brothers and other wealthy donors who could instantly remake her shoestring presidential campaign.

Fiorina's show-stealing performance in a Republican presidential debate last month, and her subsequent surge in the polls, has prompted industrialists Charles and David Koch to take a “serious look” at the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, according to three sources close to the brothers.

    .

The Koch Brothers are more libertarian than conservative, and they support amnesty for illegal aliens, probably because of the promise of cheap labor.

Even before her rapid rise in the polls -- she has vaulted to second place in the key early voting state of New Hampshire -- Fiorina had already garnered about $2 million in support from the likes of reclusive hedge fund baron Robert Mercer and former Univision CEO Jerrold Perenchio.

Can you guess what a former Univision CEO with a name very similar to Pinocchio feels regarding amnesty for illegal aliens?

“We think she’s pretty viable,” said broadcasting billionaire Stanley Hubbard, a member of the Koch brothers' network of conservative advocacy groups who donates heavily to political candidates.

Stanley Hubbard is the guy who pressured Scott Walker to reverse himself on birthright citizenship. Like a vampire, having drained Walker of political vitality, he's now latching onto Carly's neck.

Why would all these pro-amnesty guys put their money behind Carly? Because she's pro-amnesty, too:

Carly supports keeping birthright citizenships and allowing anchor babies, calling attempts to change the law a mere "distraction". She supports amnesty for so-called "Dreamers", and supported Marco Rubio's gang of 8 amnesty bill. (By the way, wasn't Marco's prepared speeches great in the debate? If you think so, please don't vote for him.) Carly refuses to say whether she supports a broad amnesty program. She opposes deporting illegals. These positions only put her a smidgeon to the right of Jeb Bush, who openly supports amnesty for illegals; they hardly make her a raging lion of conservatism.

I hope Trump highlights her record in the next debate; you can be sure Carson and Cruz will be too timid to, and the rest of the candidates basically agree with her.
