Vote for Respect

Dear xxxx:

The Latino community took yet another blow yesterday.

The long-awaited Senate action on the "Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act" was thwarted Tuesday in a procedural vote. Not a single Republican senator voted to open debate on the bill that contained the "DREAM Act" as an amendment, denying at least 800,000 Latino youth the chance to contribute all they can to our country's well-being, its defense, and its future.

But we will not desist!

We know you are all frustrated, and we are too! We have been attacked from all sides lately. Intolerance and discrimination are nothing new to Latinos, but our country's anti-Latino sentiment has escalated in recent months. And we are tired of being the punching bag. We are tired of being suspects in our own communities in Arizona. We are tired of some senators talking about doing away with birthright citizenship. And we are tired of Congress ignoring our endless calls for immigration reform!

It's time for us to stand up and say that we won't tolerate being the punching bag anymore. This November 2, punch back! Let's tell Congress that we will remember how they kept the lives of our young people in legal limbo.

Staying home on November 2 is not an option. Sign the pledge to vote for respect!

Stand up and vote for respect. Latino voters need to get to the polls and demand respect for our entire community. Tell your elected officials that the Latino community is fed up, and on November 2 we will vote for respect.
