Latino turnout shows need for reform now

Immigration advocates: Latino turnout shows need for reform now
By Kevin Bogardus - 11/06/10 06:00 AM ET

Unions and pro-immigration reform groups are touting the impact of the Latino vote on the midterm elections as they renew their push for comprehensive legislation in the next Congress.

Advocates for an immigration reform bill say Democratic candidates in Western states, particularly California and Nevada, benefited from high Latino turnout. They plan to pivot off that strong showing in 2010 to argue that both parties need to move on immigration reform if they want to win over the crucial voting bloc in 2012.

“It showed the Democrats that they needed the Latinos to win. It also showed the Republicans that they cannot win without Latinos,â€

    Illegals

The GOP won on November 2, 2010 because We Americans do not support amnesty for illegal aliens. All illegal aliens must be deported NOW.

Now if we could only find out in a definitive way how many of those Latino votes were made by legals or illegals.
Just how powerful is the Latino vote when it comes down to people who are actually eligible/legal voters?

This can be curbed if we can get our borders secured and illegals sent home. If we force businesses to use e-verify, deny jobs to illegals in every way to include stiff fines for hiring illegals, stop social services to illegals, and stop the anchor baby mess, then we could get our country back.
If we say there are 44million illegals in our country, and maybe a forth of them vote or work to get people to vote, that will only be 11 million democrat pushers. We have enough voters on our side to offset them.
We need to hold the new congress majority's feet to the fire. I have been writing all of them since the election. I believe illegal immigration is in the top five problems Americans are trying to deal with. The economy, jobs, and daily living concerns are first of course. But if we fix the illegal problem, some of the outcome will help the more pressing issues. Less illegals means more jobs for Americans. Put more BP on our southern and northern borders, new jobs will be made. Go ahead and use the camps to hold illegals until they can be deported, run by unemployed Americans, more new jobs. Build the fence or the wall, more new jobs. We solve two or help more of the problems become less of a problem. We can deport all illegals we find, and if we do it right more and more illegals will self deport. I'm not racist or without a heart, but my heart is in my country.
As far as the anchor babies. Take that citizenship away unless it has been earned. WE did not make their parents come here to have an anchor baby. These anchor babies need to see that they are the pawns. Their parents knew what they were doing and chose to put their children at risk of deportation.
It is time to put America and Americans first. Until we do that we are going to be a country that is sliding down a long slope picking up speed and debris along the way.

    The opening post says.....
Both Angle and Fiorina came out against comprehensive immigration reform during their election campaigns. Both GOP candidates also supported a new Arizona state law that gave police officers the authority to detain someone on suspicion of being in the United States illegally.
I don't think Fiorina came out against comprehensive immigration at all.

In fact as far as I know, she is for it. But IMO, she was sly like Palin, Rubio, and some of the other RINOs, and was able to use 'double speak,' and confused people into thinking she is against comprehensive immigration, when she is actually in favor of it.
Ron Paul in 2011 "[...]no amnesty should be granted. Maybe a 'green card' with an asterisk should be issued[...]a much better option than deportation."

Latinos have to come to terms with the fact that if they're US citizen, they're just Americans like everyone else and free to vote however they choose for whatever candidate they want. If they want a state with 14% unemployment and more of the same, then fine, cast your vote for Boxer and Brown and enjoy the consequences.

Right but then, everyone has to suffer those consequences....not just the ones who voted for it..

If we could only get the freebies taken away. It would be very interesting to see how many illegals would make the effort to come to the US if those freebies weren't in the picture for them.

I'm sure the word ethical is not in their vocabulary.
    Nothing in Mexico is ethical.
