The political correctness virus strikes us again. Its madness is so insufferable that we all feel like being kicked in the teeth.

The PC crowd dare says that from now on, we should no longer call illegal immigrants as illegal aliens. Rather, we should address to them “ foreign nationals.” Otherwise, we are committing “a hate crime.”

Their flaky reasoning is that “no human beings are illegal and the very word illegal is, therefore, a dehumanizing slur and should be by all means dropped.” They go on to decry that the”I” word is as bad as the “N” word.”

However, we live in the land of law, and if anyone, regardless of ethnic background, enters the country to live illegally or against the law, he is and should be declared an illegal alien and should be dealt with as such. Illegal by any other word is still illegal. Indeed, what would happen to us if we get rid of the word “illegal”? We will be living in hell with no need for the law. Now, it is so obvious that the relentless PC campaign is definitely getting out of control, taking up the mantel of the Orwellian thought police in the 21st century.

Websters New World dictionary defines alien as (1st choice) "1. Belonging to another country, people. Foreign".

The same version of Webster's defines "illegal" as (first choice) "1. prohibited by law; against the law;unlawful;illicit; also, not authorized or sanctioned, as by rules>".

OK class, these are two very straight forward definitions that do not leave much to the imagination or seem to be subject to misinterpretation. So how does calling someone who fits the definition of alien who enters this country unlawfully an " illegal alien" dehumanize the alien who came here illegally? Maybe we should put up signs at all border crossings, and in all international airports that urge aliens to not dehumanize themselves by entering our country illegally.

A hate crime for calling someone what they really are? That is just foolish. Illegals want respect yet disrespect our laws at every turn. Sorry, it isn't going to happen no matter how much they whine and yell and demand. Do we call a bank robber financially challenged? No, we call him what he is.
