Taking advantage
The June 18 AP article "Mega homes are immigrants' fruit" featured Boye, Mexico, population 900, where 80 percent of schoolchildren drop out to sneak over the border. Last year, illegals sent $20 billion in remittances back to Mexico. Two who were mentioned worked years illegally in North Carolina, sent as much as $500 monthly back home and now live in gated homes in Boye while neighbors who did not illegally migrate live in poverty.
If America's struggling poor and vanishing middle class cannot save $500 monthly, how do illegals manage? By using emergency rooms and then skipping the bills; using fake ID's to secure social services; working under the table; and living more than one family in single-family dwellings.
Combining American job losses, depressed wages and overcrowding with illegals' abuse of social services shows they are hurting our economy. Add job insourcing, outsourcing and the picture is bleak. If these continue, America is on its way to becoming a Third World economy.
America's Re-Independence Day Rally will support securing the borders and legal immigration. It is today, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the state Capitol grounds, Morgan Street side.
-----------
NOTE: Here is the version actually sent. They removed my paragraph about Vicente Fox.
Dear Editor:
AP reporter Ioan Grillo wrote, “Mega homes are immigrants’ fruit,” seeking sympathy for illegal aliens flooding America by the millions yearly.
The article features Boye, Mexico, population 900, where 80% of schoolchildren drop out to sneak over the border. Also mentioned is that illegals sent 20 billion in remittances back to Mexico last year. Two mentioned worked years illegally in NC, sent as much as $500 monthly back home, and now live in gated homes in Boye while neighbors who did not illegally migrate live in poverty.
If America’s struggling poor and vanishing middle class cannot save $500 monthly, how do illegals manage? By using ERs as their PCPs then skipping the bills; using fake ID’s to secure social services; birthing anchor babies; working under the table; and living more than one family in single family dwellings.
Freeloader Vicente Fox encourages illegal migration so he and his rich cronies can hoard the wealth, not tax too much, and use America as their cash cow.
Combining American job losses, depressed wages, overcrowding, with illegal’s abuse of social services shows they are hurting our economy. Add job insourcing, outsourcing, and the picture is bleak. If these continue, America is on its way to becoming a third world economy.

I see why they edited your letter. You should have shown more respect for Vicente Fox since he is a leader of a country. You should have written "Freeloader Mexico President Vicente Fox" instead. Where are your manners? I'm ashamed of you Annie.

They should have left it in since at the time Fox couldn't have read it anyway. He was camping on Broke-back mountain with W, Kennedy, and McCain. Still wonder which one wears the lipstick.

On your comments Curiouspat, Brian and Andyt,
This paper has apparently a strict 200 word limit. It used to be 250 . I sent it in with about 230 words and hoped for the best. Oh, well at least they published it.
The last letter I had published in this paper years ago, they contacted me for being over the word limit, said they would publish it if I edited. I did and they did. If I edited this letter, I would have removed the paragraph about old Vinnie. I would have hated to do so (I really like criticizing Vin), but I could not see anything else to delete.People who take issue with control of population do not understand that if it is not done in a graceful way, nature will do it in a brutal fashion - Henry Kendall

Aha, so they have you write a 'word byte' vs a 'sound byte'!
