Letter of the Week: Put Americans before the illegal immigrants

Editor: I was appalled to find out that one of the Hispanic men involved in the stabbing in Wausau on Feb. 12 was here illegally.

Both these men were guests in our country (one lawfully) and this is how they are going to behave? Coming to our country to work is a privilege, not a right. Who is going to pay the stabbing victim's medical bills, the attorney fees, the court costs and the deportation costs? Will it be the employers who hired these two? No, it will be taxpaying American citizens like you and me.

What about the employer who hired the illegal one? Maybe he should foot all the bills, plus get a big fine. Our immigration system is not broken, it just isn't being enforced. That's because it's helping corporate global elites in this country form a North American Union behind the backs of the American people. It's time we begin to enforce current immigration law. We need to start controlling who comes into this country (rapists, murders and drug dealers need not apply) and how many come into this country.

Our economy is going down the toilet and our unemployment rate is rising. We can only supply the Third World with so many jobs right now. We need to be thinking of our citizens first.

What inspired him to write: This case kind of bears upon many of the impacts of illegal immigration. I understand that a lot of these people are desperate poor people. I also know that a flood of them are coming in from Mexico only because NAFTA failed. It was supposed to provide economic development for Mexico, but instead what it's done is increase drug trafficking and increase the flow of illegal immigration on our southern border.
The vast majority (of illegal immigrants) are law-abiding, and there are more good people than bad ones. But right now (immigration) is out of control. We have no control over our border.

Mitt Romney said something very interesting. Some people say you can't possibly deport all of the illegal immigrants here now. But we need to basically end all the magnets that are drawing them here. Make it harder for them to get jobs, harder for them to get welfare benefits. All these people got here on their own. If we end those magnets, they will leave on their own.

What a great letter...short and to the POINT!

I agree. Concise and accurate.

I applaud Jeff for his letter and pointing that taxpayers to the oblivious that taxpayers are paying the medical care and bills of illegals. Another thing that bugs me on the issue of illegals getting free medical care is that I have stories from friends who live in the Atlanta area that many illegals with spinal cord injuries and brain injuries have received state of the art rehab at the Shepherd Center Hospital while yet many American citizens sometimes have trouble getting their insurance companies to pay for treatment at the Shepherd Center.

This weekend an illegal immigrant robbed,shot and killed another illegal immigrant in Tulsa,Oklahoma. The person shot went inside and waited thirty minutes before calling an ambulance where he died. The media ,of coarse, is doing another one of their "in-depth investigations" as to why he waited thirty minutes before calling an ambulance. "Could he have lived had he called right away? See our report at ten." It hasn't aired yet but I'll bet they report that he was scared that he would be deported if he called due to the new immigration law passed in Oklahoma. They probably won't mention that had he not broken the law and entered to begin with,he may very well be alive now. Another biased spin on a tragic story designed to further an agenda by a supposedly neutral media. If i'm wrong,I apologize. But I bet I'm not.
