After 8 months and 6 times in court I was finally vindicated today with a verdict of not guilty. I can remember in July and August and 2 different lawyers told me that I should plead guilty and throw myself onto the mercy of the court. I refused and found one of the best lawyers in the state to represent me. In September that prosecutor said that if I pled guilty the sentence would be time served and no court cost. I told him hell no. In October the same prosecutor said that if I didn't plead guilty then he would level another charge against me. I told him to do his damnedest and he did. In December and January that additional charge was dropped and I finally had my day in court today. All the jurors were there this time too.
And they actually listened to what I had to say on the witness stand. I admitted to calling that homeowner a cheap bastard. And I told them exactly why I called him that. And they believed me and found me not guilty. So I have found out that our justice system does work but you have to stay on your toes and not let them feed you a line of bullcrap. When I was on that stand I watched that prosecutor get so frustrated that I almost busted out laughing at him. I just know that he and that homeowner were real mad when they left the court room.

ALIPAC, I want to thank all of your members because, believe me it was the moral support that I got from your organization that encouraged me to push it as far as I did. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Lone Protester
