Editorial: The Absurdity Behind the Legalization Rational

Sen. Lott recently exemplified the incredibly twisted logic behind the senate’s legalization mantra when he argued something must be done to identify millions of immigrants who are living in the U.S. clandestinely. Such justification to "identify" or, bring out from the "shadows" illegal residents has lead to many finding merits in legalizing millions under the mistaken belief it will actually accomplish something.

Pro immigration pundits and news media have so far been successful in defining what is "realistic" and what isn't in dealing with 20-plus million illegal immigrants. Many feel only a humane approach is feasible in dealing with lax law enforcement of the past.

However, if history has revealed anything worth observing, its that leniency tends to encourage more of the same.

Senate members want to add steep fines and even force head of households to return to wherever they came from, to then apply for full permanent residency for his/her self and family. Imagine the cries and court challenges over the hardships that will be caused for requiring these “head of householdsâ€
