AngryMandy, I like what one business owner on Fox News said last week. He said the Dems want to say "I'll give you this" I'll give you that and you're suppose to be happy for the crumbs. But those crumbs are used to keep them in power. Instead of asking us to excel, we're asked to be mediocre.

Diane Wilkerson's attitude is that the sort of activity she was engaged in is rife and they are singling her out. She is also upset that more of her colleagues did not help her against Chang-Diaz before this came out. The talk is she intends to remain in office until the end of her term and then testify against other bigger fish who were doing the same thing.

So pretty much Diane Wilkerson is angry because she got caught. She has no remorse for being corrupt, and breaking the trust of the people as well as the LAW!! I wonder how she would react if someone stole money from her? She would not have has to worry about losing her job if she had actually done her job. Again, it all comes back to taking responsibility for our actions.

The autobiography of former New Jersey Republican Governor Tom Kean is very interesting in that regard which is that he says the Democrats he was serving with in the legislature had a very different rationale for their running. The laws permit in New Jersey and here permit legislators to have a second occupation and so they use running for ofice as a way to promote their main activity.

What we currently is an attitude in which Republicans only run if they think they can win. Also Republican candidates here tend to run later in life than the Democrats. They use it to cap off a successful private career.

There are few Republican candidates with a high chance of their winning and only after the peak of their career leaves a lot of Democrats running unopposed. What is needed is not candidates with a high chance of winning it is candidates who would not mind serving if they won.

There may even be a business opportunity in the situation a public relations firm could specialize in promoting the practices of lawyers and businesses of insurance sales executives etc by helping them if they run for office.
