Thread: New sob story movie out

I took my son to see The Spiderwick Chronicles and we saw a preview for "La Misma Luna" (or "Under the Same Moon") about a Mexican mother who comes to work in the US illegally and then her child comes illegally to find her. I'm sure it's well-acted and touching, but the gist of it is that these people are merely hard-working, and Americans are shown as bottom-feeders who only want to exploit them. The only good I see from this is maybe we can get more public support to crack down on the smugglers and employers. The reviews are mixed so far - either they loved it or felt it was pure cliched schmaltz. I'm not paying to see it - but I'm guessing I'd feel the latter. At least I can talk to my son about why I think immigration should ALWAYS be legal - so those poor ninos won't miss their mommies.

This so called movie is propaganda garbage. It was made as another attempt to fool American citizens into feeling sorry for people who break into our country, committ horific crimes, and steal jobs. The person who made this is not only mis-guided, but pro-illegal as well.

How come there are no movies about what American citizens go through when the illegals harm or kill members of their families???

What scares me the most about this movie is that they seem to be targeting children as their audience.

My daughter saw some clips of the movie and asked me why the mommy was dancing and not with her son back home.

I saw the preview too. It won't evoke any heart felt sympathy from me.
