Thread: Sen. Gordon Smith Refuses Citizens to his office on Amnesty

Fri morning, June 1st, I went to Oregon Senator Gordon smith’s office in Portland, which is located at the World Trade center – at 123 Sw Salmon-
I was denied access to talk to staff at his office, by
The Security Guard and Staff because they say protestors, three of them, took over the office. (Good for them!)

The day before, I called, and the woman did not tell me I
had to have an appt.
When I arrived at the receptionist desk, which is by a bank of elevators with no buttons.,Saunders the Security Guard followed me. By the way, I was well-dressed and normal , except for the pin I wore which said
“NO Amnesty
No illegal workers
No Illegal aliens

The Receptionist called Smith’s office, and I was grilled as to whom I had spoken with and had I given them a time.? They then refused to see me.
There is no democracy with Gordon smith
he is hiding from the public- Please go to www.numbersusa.com and look up his phone and let him know
that this is not Democracy!
Please pass this around the Internet -to alipac etc
I have already called Numbersusa. A gentleman who came at the same
time I did - also had this happen to him
we are supposed to be able to go to our Reps Office
they let the Mexicans into Oregon, but Citizens are nothing

Gordon’s smiths office made up lies to cover up –for when
I called later when I arrived home they first said it was a communication error.
I said that’s not what the security guard named Saunders said:" he said its because a group of protestors took over the office that we are not allowing people in"
when I told them I was posting it all over the internet and
contacting the Oregonian she made up lies, saying I should have given them a time and there was no one in the office when I came (not true) and they had two staff members that were new. She just threw out any lie she could come up with.
One thing though - they said they are getting thousands of calls
against illegal immigration- that is worth passing on

I had a similar experience with his staff.

I am a clean cut, law abiding citizen and I'm shocked by how I was treated by Smith's staff.

This is not a coincidence, two upstanding citizens treated like crap by the staff of the same Senator. He sets the standards for his office. This is the Oregon Senator that is AWOL from Oregon, not coming back until August.

Last week I decided since I was in the same building as the local (Portland, OR) office of Gordon Smith, I would drop in for a visit. I envisioned a cordial 5 minute conversation with a Congressional aide discussing the overwhelmingly bad points about S1348. I also envisioned having the opportunity to let the Senator's staff know that no one really believes this bill will lead to real border enforcement.

Dressed in a full suit, tie and pair of Cole Haan dress shoes I made my way to the 12th floor of World Trade Center One. As I approached the door, the intern (I'm guessing he was an intern) looked shocked that someone would just show up. He cracked the door open and I asked to meet with a staff member to discuss the bill.

Instead of being invited in, I was met with a half opened door and the intern blocking my way in. Mind you, I wasn't trying to push my way in, I just wanted to talk to someone. Again, keep in mind, I was in a $500 suit, dress shoes and had just had a haircut. I couldn't have looked anymore like a businessman than I did. I almost look as average white male as Gordon Smith himself.

The intern stepped part way into the hall with the door half open and proceeded to tell me that there was no one for me to talk to. He said the work was all taking place thousands of miles away in D.C. and that I should call the D.C. office. He started to shut the door and walk away. I told him "Wait a minute.".

This wasn't going the way I pictured at all. I decided that I had about two minutes to at least get a few of my points across and he was going to listen. I asked him if he or the aides realized that the bill allowed gang members to stay in the country. He said he didn't know. I asked him if the Senator planned on reading every page of the bill, he said he thought so.

I told him that as a person that has worked and paid taxes since age 16, this bill was a slap in my face. If everything else was good (which we all know it isn't), I would object to this bill based on the outrageous cost. I told him this is just a transfer of wealth, which is at best a Democrat principle and at worst a Communist principle.

I went on to explain that I am indignant that this bill was constructed behind closed doors and with the assistance of La Raza. If it were truly balanced and bipartisan, opponents like Jeff Sessions would have been included.

He asked me if I was finished. I was so exasperated that I just said "yes" and he closed the door and walked away.

God help us if everyone visiting a Senator’s offices get a similar reception, especially from their own party's representation. I think I can guess how Gordon Smith will vote on amnesty.

To top it all off, when I got outside the building, there was a group of illegals (women with very little kids) marching, speaking in Spanish and demanding that S 1348 be passed. It was all I could do to just drive away. What has happened to this country?

Gordon Smith, I will fight your upcoming re-election with every ounce of energy I have. I'd support a democrat over him now. Dirtbag!

How stupid and absolutely maniacle that these people are becoming.
Every American should be able to WALK INTO THEIR REP & SENATOR'S OFFICES.

He's actually come on the Lars Larson Show in the past and dodged the question. He won't go on the air anymore with Lars, hates questions (in English).

yes, on the way home , every gardener was a mexican and i passed
groups of illegals with their anchor babies.I came home to an apartment
that was being landscaped by illegal aliens.
Remember he is up for election and rumor has it that he might vote no because he afraid of the backlash
