MAN ARRESTED AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY GROPED 3 WOMEN

A man suspected of groping three women in downtown San Diego Tuesday was arrested after a federal officer witnessed one attack and chased him, police said.
Two women called police about 2:25 p.m. and reported that a man who appeared to be a transient had grabbed their buttocks. One victim was a worker at Zanzibar Cafe on G Street; the other woman was near Union and Market streets.

Less than 10 minutes later, a federal Homeland Security officer driving downtown saw a man grab a woman’s buttocks at West C and Front streets, San Diego police Lt. Kevin Mayer said. The officer followed the suspect in his car, then chased him on foot.

Arturo Lopez, 43, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery, Mayer said.
