Miami man pleads guilty to theft of $90 million in prescription drugs from Conn. warehouse

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Miami man accused in the theft of about $90 million in prescription drugs from a Connecticut warehouse has pleaded guilty.
Prosecutors and an attorney for Amed Villa say he pleaded guilty Monday to federal theft and conspiracy charges.

Thieves broke into the Enfield warehouse of pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co. in 2010 by scaling an exterior wall and cutting a hole in the roof. They used ropes to lower themselves to the floor and disabled alarms before using a forklift to load pallets of drugs into a getaway vehicle.
Villa and his brother Amaury Villa were arrested last year in Florida on charges alleging they participated in the theft, called the biggest in Connecticut history.
The brother has pleaded not guilty.
