(KUTV) OGDEN – An Ogden man who went to stop a group spray painting graffiti at a park was stabbed several times last night.

Police say the victim, a man in his 40s, was fixing his car in a parking lot near Lester Park at 2450 Jefferson when he spotted a group of 5-6 men in their 20s spray painting a bathroom.

When he went over to confront the group, one of the men stabbed him twice on the upper right side of his chest, once on the back of his chest and once on his forearm.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery overnight. Police say he is going to recover.

Gang detectives worked through the night and arrested 20-year-old John Gallegos – a known member of the Mexican Side Locos gang – for investigation of attempted homicide, unlawful consumption by a minor and criminal mischief.

Officials say Gallegos and other gang members were tagging the park when the victim noticed them.

Actually Patti, he's probably just another average American citizen who has been deceived by our federal government regarding these dangerous criminals. He has probably bought into the "they are only coming here for a better life" and multiculturalism and diversity is our greatest strength' rhetoric. While it's nice to hear of citizens trying to take care of a problem instead of just ignoring it, this guy would have been better off calling the police and letting them handle it. Never a good idea to confront any kind of gang on your own.
