Maryland State Senate to Vote Friday on Ending Illegal-Alien Driver's Licenses

The Maryland State Senate's Judicial Proceedings Committee on March 25 passed legislation (SB 369) sponsored by Sen. Norman Stone (D) that would halt Maryland's practice of giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens. The bill will get a vote in the full Senate on Friday, March 27. Certain open-borders Senators may attempt to amend the bill to add a second-tier driver's licenses for illegal aliens.

Please call and email your Senator to ask him/her to oppose weakening amendments to SB 369 and to vote YES on passage.

* Please support Senator Norman Stone's SB 396, which would make Maryland REAL ID-compliant and end driving privileges for illegal aliens. Do not change the measure to allow for a two-tier licensing approach.

* Gov. O'Malley supports making Maryland Real ID-compliant, particularly in regard to lawful presence, and opposes a two-tiered license approach. Senate President Miller also supports complying with REAL ID, and wants to "make certain that the persons that have ID are the people that legally should have ID." Please follow their lead.

* Maryland is one of four states that do not require "legal presence" in order to obtain a driver's license. Having driving privileges makes it easier for illegal aliens to keep jobs that should be reserved for unemployed Americans and legal residents during these difficult economic times. Your constituents are counting on you to help free up the jobs we need.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Maryland is one of four states that do not require "legal presence" in order to obtain a driver's license.This is outrageous in of itself and is a disservice to those residents of Maryland. Having driving privileges makes it easier for illegal aliens to keep jobs that should be reserved for unemployed Americans and legal residents during these difficult economic times.

Millions of American citizens are out of work, with many more possibly losing current employment. It's simply unconscionable that you would choose to reward those who have entered this country in violation of immigration laws, with any privileges, which would exacerbate the situation so many American citizens now find themselves in.

If you take a step back and start with the premise that illegal aliens have no legal right to even be in this country, the correct decision regarding SB 396 becomes rather apparent! Your constituents are counting on you to help free up the jobs we need.

Maryland must remove driving privileges for illegal aliens, who are driving down wages and decreasing job opportunities for the most vulnerable of our citizens and legal residents. A state issued drivers license in the hands of an illegal violates all aspects of common sense. Why would you be inclined to reward illegals, which no doubt will be to the detriment of all those American citizens who call Maryland home.

You owe to those who put you into office, to do the right thing here and reject any and all measures that would essential reward those who have chosen to ignore our immigration laws when entering this country!!

i am beyond angry thinking they may pass the two-tiered system. it INFURIATES me to think our state would say, "oh, ok sir, you're here in this country illegally? you evade taxes and abuse our taxpayer funded services, but you'd still like an i.d. card so you can continue to take advantage of this country? oh, sure!!! here you go. this card means you're not a legal citizen, but you are certainly welcome to remain in this country, continue evading our taxes, and let the good ol' hard working american citizens fund your anchor babies. welcome to maryland!!"............

NO TWO-TIERED SYSTEM! isn't that CRAZY? so instead of saying "ah-ha! you must be in the country illegally if you have no documentaion, so now we shall deport you!"......INSTEAD we will reward them with "another version" of a license so they can remain here, no questions asked?!
