Kansas City, prepare to be educated.

At its first-ever regional conference this weekend, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps says it will educate the public about its mission: fighting illegal immigration with legal protest activities.

Civil rights groups plan a counter march Friday to educate the public about what they say the Minuteman organization embraces: hate speech and vigilantism.

The coming showdown arose out of the controversy over Mayor Mark Funkhouser’s appointment last year of Frances Semler, an active member of the Minuteman group, to the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Board.

Civil rights groups urged Funkhouser to rescind her appointment.

When he did not, the National Council of La Raza, a nonprofit organization that advocates for Hispanics, threatened to take its 2009 convention out of Kansas City

grandmasmad...that second answer is baited. I do not like the Minutemen, but name me one thing that the Minutemen have done that makes them a vigilante group? This is not directed at you. It is at the survey. How many lives have they saved?

If the Minutemen do not promote hate speech and vigilantism(sp?) and the groups protest this, what does this make the groups who are protesting?

If I set up a neighborhood watch to stop crime, does that make me a vigilante? Does this define me as someone who practices hate speecha against criminals?

You know, I value human life, and know for a fact that the Minutemen have save a lot of illegals lives. A part of me wishes they never did that with all of the crap they are getting. They save lives and are labeled as Hitlerists... The left wingers will never get a grasp on truth, they are all about emotion and what they think is true.

So long as we, with God's help, are doing all we can to stop the illegal alien invasion and, in the process, show the country how to do it, then the lies that liars hurl at us are like water off a duck's back. The libels and slander are our battle ribbons. May we ever wear them as honorably as we wear them proudly. We all know they are lies; they serve only to identify their bearers as liars before all men and their hearers as dupes.
