    Sindawe, welcome.

I see you live in the Boulder area. I'm just south of Morrison on 285. There was a beautiful valley just as you came up 285 off of C-470, just around the Morrison exit. It's now ruined - filled with these McMansions.

This is my home state. What I see happening here is horrible. Fancy houses sitting on a postage stamp-size lot. When this housing bubble breaks, we're going to have a lot, a real big bunch, of these barns standing empty.

Before the capitol gains on housing laws changed, a person had to reinvest all of the monies from their previous home into a new home or pay capitol gains on the remainder. In the late 80s Colorado experienced an huge influx of people from California that had sold homes (by Colorado standards modest) in that market for huge amounts and couldn't find homes in Colorado that could absorb the gains, so they built a bunch and drove the market up. The trend has been to continue to build large homes.
In the late 80s people were taking a bath on those homes when the market went belly up and I am getting the erie feeling that this could happen again. Out of control pricewise in CO is Summit county.
