    Pro English Action Alert

Dedicated to protecting our nation's unity in the English language

    Action Alert!

Urge Congress to Oppose Puerto Rico Statehood (H.R. 900)!
H.R. 900 would undermine"melting pot," divide America by language

    Dear ProEnglish Supporter,

Act now to oppose Rep. Jose Serrano's (D-NY) H.R. 900, the “Puerto Rico Democracy Act of 2007” that would lead to Puerto Rico statehood.

H.R. 900 would transform the U.S. into an officially multilingual society overnight. This is because there is no provision in H.R. 900 that would require Puerto Rico to adopt English as the language of government.

If it upsets you now to have to press #1 for English, or to see ballots in foreign languages, just think how bad it will become if a Spanish-speaking state is added to the United States.

America should not have to suffer the conflict over language and culture that we see today in countries as diverse as Canada, India, and the former Yugoslavia.

Puerto Rico statehood will be used by radical groups like La Raza and the ACLU as a rationale for putting Spanish on equal footing with English, just as French-speaking Canadians have long insisted on doing in Canada.

Puerto Ricans have made great contributions to our country. But Puerto Rico must adopt English as its primary language before it becomes a state.

Take Action NOW! Tell Your Congressman to Oppose H.R. 900.

Many citizens of Puerto Rico speak only English.

I don't think this will effect us too much. They are out on an island and not part of the mainland.

Lastly, I don't think Puerto Rican's want to become Americans. They have voted on this several times and it's always voted down by the citizens.

I drove by our Enterprise rent a car place yesterday and they had a sign by the street that simply said 'Se habla espanol.' Now why do they feel the need to post this information... I posted this on my board and someone said they had saw the sign too and called them to say they would never rent another car from them. Americans are really getting fed up.

    CAUTION:
anything that SERRANO is involved in has an ULTERIOR MOTIVE.

Puerto Rico voted AGAINST becoming a state. Is Serrano attempting to go around Ruerto Rican voting rights?

    Something SMELLS foul!
