Media Drool over Lone Million Vet March Protester with Confederate Flag

On Sunday, with throngs of veterans marching through Washington D.C. to protest President Obama’s closure of war memorials, the media focused on one man in particular: a random dude with a Confederate flag at the White House. In the apparent belief that they had found the conservative Professor Moriarty standing behind the current government shutdown, media members descended as one on the flagman:

    Jeffrey Goldberg @JeffreyGoldberg
Raising the Confederate flag outside the White House seems like a compromise-oriented move.

Emily L. Hauser @emilylhauser The presence of a Confederate flag at WHouse protest is a good time to remind you to read @zackbeauchamp: http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/10/09/2730651/how-racism-caused-the-shutdown/ … #shutdown

    How Racism Caused The Shutdown

A lot of people think the only way that racism "causes" anything is when one person intentionally discriminates against another because of their color of their skin. But that's wrong. And understan...

Joan Walsh @joanwalsh I know, I'm always bringing race into everything, but I didn't bring the Confederate flag to the White House:

Pro tip: If you want to express your love of US Army & its monuments … leave the Confederate flag at home.

Jesse Berney @jesseberney Shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, to see a Confederate flag in this picture.

Meredith Shiner @meredithshiner To recap: House Rs believe optics of a protest that includes confederate flags at WH inhabited by 1st black president is a "game-changer?"

I suspect the media would have been fine with the Mexican flag.

Left Freaks Over One Confederate Flag - But, Supported 'Occupiers' Marching for 'Revolution' Under Communist Flags

During the shutdown protest at the White House Sunday, one lone protester waved a Confederate flag. Liberals were immediately offended. Salon,MSNBC, New Republic and Huffington Post all commented.

They failed to note the irony of the situation. These and more liberal operations were the same ones celebrating the Occupy Wall Street protests. You remember those, where more than 7,700 protestors were arrested across the nation. The protests themselves were hotbeds of violence, attacks on police, rape and riot. Four Occupiers were convicted of planning to bomb a bridge.

And they weren't just celebrated by the left. The left was actively involved in making them, supporting them and joining them.

Let's take a quick trip down memory lane, shall we?

Thousands of Occupy marchers, some appearing under communist flags, the black flag of anarchy and carrying signs calling for revolution filled the protests.

Occupy Wall Street was wildly supported by prominent Hollywood liberals. Collectively, the top 25 supporters were worth more than $4 billion. So much for that 99 percent claim. They included comedienne Roseanne Barr, anti-American actress and fitness guru Jane Fonda, and former Vice President Al Gore.

Barr notably called for violence and beheadings. "'I do say that I am in favor of the return of the guillotine and that is for the worst of the worst of the guilty. I first would allow the guilty bankers to pay, you know, the ability to pay back anything over $100 million [of] personal wealth because I believe in a maximum wage of $100 million. And if they are unable to live on that amount of that amount then they should, you know, go to the re-education camps and if that doesn't help, then being beheaded."

Then there was the crime and violence at the protests themselves. According to OccupyArrests.com, which tracked the movement, more than 7,700 were arrested. There were several cases of rape reported from New York to New Haven. Violence broke out in Oakland. Buildings were vandalized and one man was seriously injured after Occupiers attacked police. Don't believe me for that, credit lefty Mother Jones. According to that publication: "At the height of this melee, I saw two men throw bottles at the police."
They even had a song. The song "We Stand as One" was recorded byJoseph Arthur, who has collaborated with rock greats like Peter Gabriel and REM's Michael Stipe. Arthur was nominated for a best recording package Grammy for his 1999 EP "Vacancy," according to his bio. Arthur has "previously been recorded a decade earlier by Gabriel for a Princess Diana tribute album."

The song was also incredibly violent. Some nuggets:

    • "Your blood is our paint,"
    • "Like a pig you consumed
And like a pig you will roast,"
    • "Burning your homes."
    • "Your body destroyed"
    • "Strung up you'll bleed
      Like the pig you became"

Let's not forget how well they treated the police. Here's a video of them threatening and harassing police at the San Diego protest. The alleged Occupy "press" threaded to "dox" one of the police officers, which was a call for supporters to investigate private information about the officer.

But I guess one guy with a flag is so much worse.

On Tuesday, participants in Chicago's May Day march proudly featured a series of communist flags, banners and slogans, according to a post atMarathon Pundit.
In addition to the hammer-and-sickle flag of the former Soviet Union, marchers proudly showed off their allegiance to marxism and communism with banners declaring, "long live communism," and flags bearing the images of marxist leaders like Lenin, Stalin and Che Guevara. Protesters also showed up with signs and t-shirts bearing marxist quotes.
"Humanity's interest lies in the Marxist clarification of the concept of freedom," one sign read.

"Smash all borders with communist revolution," one red t-shirt declared.

Another protester held a sign saying "Capitalism is failing, socialism is the alternative."
John Ruberry of the Marathon Pundit told Examiner there were "at least a dozen" flags and banners "promoting communism."

"There were even more socialist signs," he said, "although some of them were mass-produced."

Ruberry took several photos of the signs and posted them at his blog.

One of the signs demanded, "open the f*****g borders," while another suggested apartheid exists in Mexico.

There was also the obligatory signs bashing Israel, while another protester held a handmade sign reading "yall some racist!!! (sic)."

Another protester was seen with a sign calling Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of disclosing secrets in the Wikileaks scandal, a "hero."

"To the ultra-left he's a hero," Ruberry wrote.

The International Socialist Organization was present, as was the International Workers of the World.

Like the 2011 LA May Day parade, union members marched with thecommunists.
When asked about the presence of communists, socialists and anarchists, Donnie Von Moore, president of Teamsters Local 743, seemed unconcerned.

"No, I don't have a problem," he told Rebelpundit, another conservative blogger. Video of that exchange can be seen at Breitbart.com.

"But when he spoke at the concluding rally at Federal Plaza downtown, he seemed put off by Rebelpundit's questioning," Ruberry wrote, adding that Moore told the crowd "all of those groups comprise 'the 99 percent.'"

Ruberry wrote that Moore, an imposing individual, said he personally does not support communism, before swatting Ruberry's camera down.

The communist influence in the Democratic Party-endorsed Occupy movement is nothing new.

Last December, we reported that activist Lisa Bergmann proclaimed that communists are in a leadership role within Occupy Wall Street, with the goal of re-electing Barack Obama.

A list produced by PJ Media last year shows the protest movement has been endorsed by the Communist Party USA, the Chinese Comminust Party, the government of North Korea and the International Bolshevik Tendency.

The protests have also been endorsed by islamists, Nazis and white supremacists like David Duke, who produced a video last year supporting the movement.

In addition to communists, Nazis and islamists, many Democrats - including DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, President Obama and Vice President Biden - have all expressed support for the anti-capitalist movement.

Ruberry, wondering "if the establishment media was at the same rally," adds that neither the Chicago Sun-Times nor the Chicago Tribune posted any pictures of the communists at the march.
