On a personal side note. I looked out my front windows this morning and my entire yard was covered with blackbirds! I think they are Starlings, but I'm not sure.

When they started to fly away in groups they flew right towards my window and I could hardly see the sky between them as they flocked south. I've seen large flocks in the distance before, but never have I had a front row seat in the middle of one!

I found some Youtube videos that come close to what I saw this morning, but none of these come close to the amount of birds I saw and how close I was. I wish I could have caught it on film for all of you to see.

Their wings sounded like a gust of wind when they flew off and they made quite a clamor of sound as they picked at my yard. Had to be thousands of them because I could hardly see any grass beneath them!

Merry Christmas to everyone here from me too, a long term member whose screen name might better be sirlurksalot. This post reminds me of when I used to hunt western Kansas almost 50 years ago. Pheasants back then also darkened the sky when hunters caused them to bunch up and fly en masse. I understand their numbers have declined some but for me, they remain as the most beautiful of all.
