Official puts forward idea of referendum
June 15, 2005
Mexico could hold a referendum to find out what its citizens want from a possible migration agreement with the United States and what this country would be willing to offer in return, Foreign Relations Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez said Tuesday.
"I am going to put it on the table with the group that we are working with as an option so that, for the middle term, it will help us resolve this situation of where we are and what we want as Mexico," Derbez told reporters after appearing before the Senate.
His suggestion hinted that this country might be willing to take steps in order to encourage Washington to reach an immigration accord. In the past, there have been calls for Mexico to do more to keep this country's citizens from jumping the U.S. border.
For decades, Mexico has said its constitution prevents it from stopping Mexicans from migrating illegally to the United States.
In April, Mexican legislators presented a bill to stop Mexicans from traveling to dangerous border areas, but the measure was withdrawn for changes and has yet to be voted on.RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

Aye, yaye, yaye, yaye, yaye!!!
What next. Will they want to approve our new laws regarding immigration?
Perhaps we could just give them control over all of these issues!
The absurdities continue....When we gonna wake up?

I don't flipping care what Mexicans want. Screw them. How about what we want? What we want is for your lawbreaking citizens that thumbed their noses at our laws and our sovereignty to go take a hike. March your little sombreros back down south and wait until you learn how to abide by our laws before you come back. Start by going back home and learning how to fill out some paperwork, well ok learn how to read and write in english first and then go from there.

Why dont they hold a referendum on what the Mexican gov can do to better thier own people in thier own country. Sheez, this just shows they are unwilling to make changes in their own country.
