    • Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has warned the U.S. against intervening in domestic matters following the kidnapping of four Americans in the Mexican border city of Matamoros last week.
    • Some U.S. lawmakers have called for a more aggressive approach to Mexican cartels.
    • López Obrador has cautioned against foreign interference, saying the incident was a confrontation between groups and that the Mexican government is working on it.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is cautioning U.S. President Joe Biden from intervening in matters of domestic affairs amid the latest developments in last week's kidnapping of four Americans.

On Tuesday, Mexican officials announced that two of the U.S. citizens who were kidnapped in a Mexican border city just south of Brownsville, Texas, had been found dead. The other two were rescued and returned to the U.S. A suspect is in custody.
During his daily press conference, López Obrador addressed the news, saying that Mexican authorities were "working and cooperating" with their American counterparts, but that his government wouldn't allow "foreign countries" to intervene.
"We don't meddle to try to see what U.S. criminal gangs distribute fentanyl in the United States," López Obrador said.
In light of last week's kidnapping, some Republican lawmakers have called for the U.S. to take a more aggressive approach to the cartels on the other side of the southern border.
On Monday, Senator Lindsey Graham said he was prepared to introduce legislation that would "set the stage" for U.S. military force in Mexico and designate certain drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
"I would tell the Mexican government if you don't clean up your act, we're going to clean it up for you," Graham told Fox News.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has echoed these remarks, tweeting that the U.S. military should be stationed at the border and "strategically strike" to take out the cartels, which she said "control" the Mexican government and people.
"Our military is competent and should take [the cartels] out swiftly," the Georgia Republican said. "Make an example out of these monsters."
Matamoros, the city in the Tamaulipas state where the Americans had traveled to for last week, has been a stronghold for the drug-trafficking Gulf Cartel, which has used the city as a key pipeline for moving illegal drugs across the border.
The latest incident has drawn national attention to the violent realities that many Mexicans have lived in for years. In Tamaulipas alone, thousands have disappeared since the government declared war on the cartels in 2006 and the terror in the area has only been escalated by wars between the factions.
In a statement made Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said that the four U.S. citizens were shot at by gunmen shortly after crossing into Mexico last Friday, The gunmen then herded the Americans from their white minivan to another vehicle before they fled the scene with them.
Video of the incident was shared on social media, showing men with assault rifles moving the four people into the bed of a pickup truck in broad daylight.
The Americans have been identified as Latavia "Tay" McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown and Eric James Williams.
A travel advisory has been in place for Tamaulipas since October. The State Department has issued a "Do Not Travel" advisory for the state, noting that "Violent crime – such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery – is widespread and common in Mexico."
On Monday, López Obrador did not mention the cosmetic medical procedure that the Americans had reportedly traveled to Mexico for, instead offering a theory that the group had crossed the border to buy medicines.
"There was a confrontation between groups, and they were detained," López López Obrador said. "The whole government is working on it."
Newsweek reached out to the Biden administration for comment.

American killed in Mexico kidnapping tried to cancel tummy tuck trip over drug cartel fears

Story by Andrea Blanco • 7h ago

One of the Americans killed in a Mexico kidnapping voiced fears about travelling to the country before he and three friends were ambushed at gunpoint by drug cartel members.

Mexican authorities confirmed on Tuesday that Shaeed Woodard and Zindell Brown were the two US nationals found dead nearly four days after they were kidnapped in the Mexican city of Matamoros– an area dominated by the Gulf cartel.

Brown and Woodward travelled to Mexico from South Carolina with their friends Latavia “Tay” McGee and Eric James Williams, who survived the kidnapping. The group drove from South Carolina and had just entered the border between Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros when they were caught in a shootout and forced out of their van and into the kidnapper’s vehicles.
Brown, Woodward and Mr Williams reportedly tagged along to help Ms McGee share driving duties as she was planning to undergo a tummy tuck procedure she had booked with a local plastic surgeon. But before embarking on the trip that would prove fatal for him, Brown told his sister Zalandria Brown that he was worried about the dangers of visiting the cartel-dominated area.
“Zindell kept saying, ‘We shouldn’t go down,’” Ms Brown told the Associated Press.
Brown’s grieving sister also spoke out about video purportedly showing the terrifying moment the kidnapping unfolded. The footage showed several armed men forcing the victims inside a pickup truck in broad daylight.
“To see a member of your family thrown in the back of a truck and dragged, it is just unbelievable,” she said.

Ms McGee’s mother said she had also warned her daughter against visiting Matamoros, which is on the US State Department’s “Level 4: Do Not Travel” list, but she said: “Ma, I’ll be okay.”
An unnamed state authority told the Associated Press that the missing American citizens were found in a rural area east of Matamoros called Ejido Longoreńo on the way to the local beach known as Playa Baghdad.
Ms McGee was unharmed while Mr Williams suffered gunshot wounds to his legs. They have since returned to the US and are being treated at a hospital in Texas.
Autopsies on the bodies of the two fatal victims have been completed and the remains are expected to be repatriated to the US, according to CNN. Officials familiar with the investigation told the network that they believe a Mexican cartel mistook the victims for Haitian drug smugglers.
A suspect, 24-year-old Jose “N,” has been arrested. The man was tasked with making sure the victims didn’t escape during the three-day kidnapping and he was captured at the scene on Tuesday.

Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villareal and Attorney General Irving Barrios said that while it has not been confirmed, it is likely the Gulf drug cartel is behind the kidnappings.
The White House has decried the attack, with National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby vowing on Tuesday to get justice for the victims.
“We appreciate the hard work of the Justice Department the FBI and the DEA and the Department of Homeland Security … we’re grateful for their swift response to this dreadful incident and for their continued collaboration with Mexican authorities,” Mr Kirby told reporters.
“We’re going to work closely with the Mexican government to ensure that justice is done in this case.”

Meanwhile, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Lopez Obrador claimed that the tragedy will be seized upon by the American media to portray Mexico as a dangerous country, in stark contrast with “silence when Mexicans are killed in the US.”
He went on to say that GOP politicians will also use the crime as an opportunity to push “their agenda.”
“We continue to work every day towards peace and are very sorry that this has happened in our country,” he said. “We send our condolences to the victims’ friends and family and the American people. And we will continue to work towards peace.”

When are our legal African American citizens going to stand up and demand that border is closed, and demand 35 million illegal aliens are deported and end birthright citizenship!

They are destroying your communities and taking YOUR tax dollars, housing, and jobs too while bankrupting your schools and healthcare facilities.

Where are the shills Ayanna Pressley, Corey Booker, Sheila Jackson Lee, Al Sharpton and Maxine Watters?

Mexican cartel reportedly murdered two American “tummy tuck” tourists after mistaking them for Haitian drug smugglers

(Natural News) In what officials believe may have been a case of mistaken identity, two Americans who traveled to Mexico for an abdominoplasty procedure (tummy tuck) were found dead this week.
It is believed that cartel gang members mistook the two Americans as Haitian drug smugglers when they were abducted and murdered. Two others who were also abducted survived their captors, though one is currently in hospital fighting to survive injuries.
All four of the people had crossed into Mexico via the Texas border. They were driving a white minivan with North Carolina license plates when they came under fire in Matamoros, a city located in the north east of Mexico.
The vehicle crashed into another car outside a shop, shattering the passenger-side window. Men with assault rifles and tan body armor were also spotted at the scene forcing the four people into the bed of a white pickup truck in broad daylight.
“One was alive and sitting up, but the others seemed either dead or wounded,” reported The Telegraph (United Kingdom) about the incident. “At least one person appeared to lift his head from the pavement before being dragged to the truck.”
(Related: In other news, Mexico is phasing out all imports of genetically engineered [GMO] corn to protect its citizens from toxic harm.)
Matamoros is an infamously cartel-affected Mexican city with lots of violence

Authorities believe, based on current evidence, that the four individuals were mistook as Haitian drug smugglers, which cartel gang members saw as a threat.
“This is like a bad dream you wish you could wake up from,” said Zalandria Brown of Florence, S.C. Brown’s younger brother Zindell was one of the four victims.
“To see a member of your family thrown in the back of a truck and dragged, it is just unbelievable.”
In addition to Zalandria’s son Zindell, the other victims include LaTavia “Tay” McGee and her cousin Shaeed Woodard, as well as their friend Eric James Williams.
Strangely, there is no indication as to which of these individuals died and which survived.
According to McGee’s mother, who is a mother of six, her daughter Tay was scheduled to undergo the tummy truck procedure. Her friends were there to support her.
All of the individuals were extremely close and had divvied up the costs of travel among themselves to make the process more affordable. They are said to have been well aware of the dangers in Mexico, with Brown’s brother having stated before the trip that he was concerned about their safety.
“Zindell kept saying, ‘we shouldn’t go down,” his mother Zalandria said.
It turns out that Matamoros, where the four were traveling, is known for its violence. Factions of powerful Gulf drug cartels fight among themselves there, and thousands of Mexicans have disappeared from the Tamaulipas state where the city is located.
“Of the four, two of them are dead, one person is wounded and the other is alive and right now the ambulances and the rest of the security personnel are going to them to give the corresponding support,” announced Américo Villarreal, the Tamaulipas Governor.
No further details were shared by Villarreal, including where or how the four Americans were discovered. There was another woman from Mexico who reportedly died in the crossfire as well, it was revealed.
The bodies of those who are now deceased have reportedly been returned to the United States for proper burial.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is reportedly offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who has further information about what transpired on that fateful day, according to the U.S. embassy in Mexico.
