Michael Savage Beats CAIR

Talk Radio Network host Michael Savage recently pursued a copyright infringement and RICO lawsuit against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for allegedly illegally publishing quotes and audio excerpts from the syndicated talk show regarding Islam out of context, and using them for fundraising purposes while damaging the value of Savage’s copyrighted material.

While the initial lawsuit filed by Savage was withdrawn, CAIR attempted to extract attorney’s fees and costs from Savage that totaled close to $200,000.00.

Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court (a Clinton-appointee) ruled in favor of Savage, denying the Islamic lobby group any attorney’s fees or costs. In doing so, she found that Savage’s claim was not frivolous as CAIR claimed.

“This is a huge victory for me, personally, but also for the rest of America who is afraid of this lawsuit-happy group of intimidators," Savage said.

Savage noted that Judge Illston is a "bona fide liberal, yet she followed the law in the fees motion."

"CAIR tried to tell her in their claim that she 'should get' me, because they were all liberals," he said. "You have to read their sloppy claim to believe it. Now, people will not be afraid to file suits if they have a legitimate claim against CAIR or some Soros-funded group."

Last year CAIR waged a nation-wide campaign against The Michael Savage Show and demanded that advertisers and stations boycott the program using out of context quotes and audio clips from the show. Despite this campaign, The Michael Savage Show is still ranked as the 3rd largest syndicated show in the country, according to Talkers Magazine, and is heard on over 300 stations from Los Angeles to New York City.
