    WASHINGTON -

Microsoft Corp. hired SC Partners LLC to lobby the federal government on immigration matters, according to a disclosure form.

The firm will lobby on issues related to temporary visas and green cards for high-tech foreign workers, according to the form posted online Thursday by the Senate's public records office.

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft (nasdaq: MSFT - news - people ) is part of a coalition of tech companies and other groups lobbying the federal government to raise the number of H-1B visas, which allow companies to hire skilled foreign professionals for up to six years. The cap is currently set at 65,000.

Tech companies contend they need such workers to stay competitive globally. Opponents have said raising the visa cap would lower wages and discourage American youngsters from pursuing tech careers.

Microsoft has previously said that about one-third of its 46,000 U.S.-based employees have work visas or are legal permanent residents with green cards.

Under a federal law enacted in 1995, lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches. They must register with Congress within 45 days of being hired or engaging in lobbying.

Microsoft Corp. hired SC Partners LLC to lobby the federal g

1st - we need to enact a law saying once an individual leaves any government office they can not serve as a lobbyist for 5 years (currently I believe it is 1 year) ... these people keep thier contacts

2nd - and more importantly we need to ban lobbyist's from contact with our elected officials in the near future if not now

until then we need a record of every congressman and senitor that has contact with a lobbyist and how they vote on the issue that the lobbyist is pushing

3rd - we need to vote out corrupt officials that hurt the American people that push for issues that hurt the common man / women that these lobbyist want

4th - do not buy microsoft ... there are other firms that have what you need at a competitive prices. the cost of what you buy is added to pay for the lobbyist..... you didnt think it was going to come out of thier pockets did you

many of these visa holders come from India and we end up paying when these individual DO NOT GO HOME and over stay thier VISAs.

It's just another way of training people to out source jobs from Americans

We need a moritorium on all immigration until the border is closed and we know only documented people are in the United States.

Also until the ones that are here are speaking English ( so we can take down all the spanish signs) and stop teaching English to spanish kids that is slowing up the education to our children.

    And they have all assimilated.

In contrast to the spin put on the issue by the proponents of unlimited H1Bs, it is not ultimately about skills - it is about money (ie. cheap "slave" workers)

That's all any illegal immigrants are about is money!

You would think that the illegals would realize were actually doing them a favor. All they have to to is go back home and come back in the right way way and they don't have to worry about being used as slave labor by businesses or being deported or anything. But no, there so busy trying to get something for nothing by breaking laws and doing everything illegally waiting on amnesty that the American people have now vowed will happen over there dead bodies, they just can't see it.

SC Partners are a lobbying force behind a good deal of illegal immigration. They primarily focus on the business point of view.

Here is some of the major things they have done recently:

A legislative effort to provide for interim relief for employment-based permanent immigrant visas and H-1B visas in the FY05 Budget Reconciliation Bill.

A legislative effort to provide for H-1B visas on the FY05 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.

A legislative effort to provide for comprehensive patent reform on the FY05 Commerce, Justice, State Appropriations Bill.

Here are some of their clients:

Both Charlie Shipp and Katie Cullen are from Texas, tho' Cullen masks that on their official website. She is from Houston and connected to oil.

Well, of course its about money like it would be in any free market capitalist society. As consumers, we all want free markets so that airfares and cars and all the things we consume remain cheap as a consequence so why should it be any different for businesses? If a business faces a choice between going out of business and hiring the cheapest foreign labor available in the market (or outsourcing), what should they do? Any rational person would do the exact same thing in such a situation which is to look at the bottomline. To interfere in free choices in a free market is nothing more than a way of imposing socialism.
