I couldn't believe they actually used to go to the migrant camps and babysit their kids on the taxpayers expense. I am gald this is gone. Let the Hispanic groups do it at their own expense.

(CBS4) HOMESTEAD Migrants and migrant activists in South Miami-Dade gathered at Homestead City Hall Monday night after a controversial decision by the Homestead housing authority got rid of the public schooling provided to their children.

Last month the Homestead Housing Authority gave a 90-day notice to Miami-Dade Public Schools telling them they could no longer operate inside the labor camps, which are mainly occupied by Mexican migrant workers. The school system had several portable classrooms located inside these camps, which provided children with education and parents with a place for their children to stay while they work.

Monday night dozens of concerned parents filled Homestead City Hall to protest the decision by the Housing Authority Director Ed Carrera to kick out the schools.

"Of course they need to be out in 90 days, they don't have a lease," said Carrera.

Carrera argues that they are implementing their own educational programs, providing 59 migrant children with schooling, but says that the school district is not cooperating with him.

"We've tried a variety of things to include them in our program, but they're not that concerned about," he said. "They're interested in doing their program."

However, activists such as Maria Garza, with the Mexican American Council, says that more than 350 children are being denied summer programs.

Mayor Roscoe Warren was dumbfounded by what's going on and wants immediate action to provide these children with classes.

"I am trusting that those words of encouragement turn into positive action," said Garza.

AND I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET THEY DONT COME TO YOUR WORK SITE EITHER.

I think what happened, and I remember this from when I was a kid..
Is that the communities were trying to do good by these people, illegal immigrants and poor citizens.. by offering daycare, free lunch programs and all sorta other things...

eventually, 'american poor' were sorta pushed aside by special interests so that 'new' programs targeted specific illegal groups. ok.

In the beginning it was okay because the burden was minimal and we were being the good shephards... well,

.. over the years, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions and tens of millions of illegals started expecting the "same" handouts, same freebies, same services that were once given in good faith.... but now.. a socialist system is being created inadvertently by the politicians you have elected.

Now, towns and cities and even states are on the verge of fiscal and social collapse... and yet, all the while, we are the 'evil', 'uneducated', 'racists' americans ---- nevermind that a HUGE population of LEGAL immigrants and black americans completely agree with "us" evildoers .....

I am glad we are starting to 'strike' back because they have bitten the hand that feeds them.


** side note: I remember hearing on talk radio a few weeks back that some school system was getting bamboozled because their children (mostly illegal immigrant children) were getting "free" lunches and not paying the reduced rate for needy families. So, if a child's parents didn't pay the 'owed' amount (after repeated notifications and calls), the child would be given a cheese sandwich. Of course, activists came out and started saying that "It hurts them and they are ostracized because people will know they are poor etc..." Well, the school system didn't give in because another school had the SAME ISSUE... in the course of a few weeks, a majority of the parent PAID in full the amount they owed... The moral of the story, they 'have' the money -- they have been bred and trained to accept and demand freebies or subsidies from american taxpayers..... and we allow it...
