    Need Help Understanding MM Rules

I wanted to go down to the boarder tomorrow where the Minuteman are going to be in California to show my support. I was told that I needed to register and pay $50 for a background check in order to participate.

I totally understand the need to do this but I just want to go down and help at the base of operation, not in the field. I just don't have the cash right now...really!

Can I do this or will they just turn me away? Anyone know?

    Thanks for your help!

Here's the problem...the other side (pro illegal alien advocates) are trying to paint these folks out as vigilante thugs out on some rampage to exact vengence on poor honest people coming into our country for nothing more than a better life. Attacks include allegations that they are racist, white supremist and the list goes on.

So, in an attempt to assauge their oppenents, they are trying to make sure those who are there are legit...thus I would assume the back ground checks.

I'd go down any way...it's a free country, and the more bodies the better.

I don't know what to tell you, Josh. That fifty dollar bit is something they started last year when a bunch of troublemakers showed up. They had rallies open to the public last year that they don't seem to be having, or at least they don't seem to be advertising this year. I would go to the rally, at least.

But I am not about to pay someone fifty bucks to donate MY time and MY effort and MY money to get there. A CRC is one thing, but I don't know of anyplace where a CRC costs fifty bucks.

    Josh-

I agree with Pinto and Junius. The fifty dollars is for the background check. Its all about covering their you know whats unfortunately. Every other group including the ACLU can do whatever they want down there, but the MM are under a microscope. Everyone is just waiting for one slip up. Its unfortunate that someone like you may be excluded because you can't pay the fee(there are a lot of people in the same boat as you), especially when you are so willing to support the cause. I had heard that there was a place to sponsor a minuteman, but I don't see it on their website. That may be a route to take, if someone would sponsor you and cover the cost of the background check. I just emailed MMHQ. Will let you know if I hear anything.

I have to tell you, I am not very happy with the MM. I sent them an email practically begging to come help this last weekend at their CA boarder HQ but do not have the cash to pay the $50 they needed to do my background check. I actually have one from my employer but I guess that won't work.

They said that it wouldn't be fair to other members and that they have to keep their integrity solid but not allowing just anyone to sign up. I understand this.

I am somewhat embarrassed that I do not have the money but the MM aren't doing themselves a favor by excluding those who want to help.

And what would a background check tell them about me anyway? If I really was from the other side, how would they REALLY know?

I do understand the need for money to run an organization but there are things that a guy like me could help with that would not compromise their organization.

    Am I wrong?

I find this horribly sad. Everywhere you turn $$$. To even think a citizen even might have to have a sponsor and a background check to stand up and support our nations security who are volunteering thier time and lives but have to do it to be able to protect themselves from people who are on that ever expanding "politically Correct" train is insane. And on TV they make it sound as if it's just the question of showing-up, and the small numbers prove their point that Americans either don't care or support the other side. Really upsets me.

There is new watch group watching the Minutemen it is called Del Norte. (Aztlan's plan for part of our country is Republica Del Norte) I wonder if they have their cell phones with them!!! The ACLU is there and the national media. The Minutemen have been painted as racist gun toting vigilantes. Their only defense is to insure that all official members of the group have background checks, be interviewed and no criminal record. Unfortunately, no has offered them for free and it cost money keep this on the burner. They are WATCHING and REPORTING , they have also rescued a few people trying to "cross" that have almost died.
There are lots of ways to show support. Ask William about being ALIPAC supporters to the MM. But, I wouldn't do that unless I asked him first.

What I meant was; If you go there can you identify yourself as and ALIPAC member and carry a sign or something to show support.
