I just rewatched the videos of the recent LA march. On one of the videos http://tinyurl.com/m9kob there is a point (about half way through the video) where the mob is loudly shouting and chanting "death, death, death to the Minutemen!" and the cops do absolutely nothing! There were many cases of individual threats to harm, but this one chant is loud and long. There were plenty of police there. Didn't that constitute a crime?
------------------------
Wikipedia quote: " A death threat is a threat (often made anonymously) against a person to kill him or her. Death threats are often intended to intimidate victims, or to induce a change in their behaviour (such as dissuading them from pursuing a criminal investigation or an advocacy campaign). In many jurisdictions, making a death threat, even one that was not intended seriously, can be considered a crime. In other cases, people use death threats to make sure others do what they do not want to do.

The most important factor to take into consideration to determine whether it is a crime or not is whether or not the target could reasonably believe that the threat could be carried out. In an effort to determine this, one must look at the context in which it was made, the means by which it was made, and the complainant's reaction to the threat. The actual intent of the person is not important (as it can not be proven to begin with), but rather the actions of the person as they were making the threat. If it is obviously sarcasm or there is absolutely no way a reasonable person could believe it could be carried out, it will almost certainly be thrown out.

It must also be proven that the defendant put the victim in an immediate fear of imminent danger.'

In the case of the marchers , the volatility of the situation, the fact is that many of the bystanders could be considered armed and/or dangerous. The inflammatory "death to the minutemen" chants could provoke some of the bystanders to actually carry out this action right then and there. It's a good thing violence did not occur, but every last one of those lunatics yelling death threats should have been rounded up and deported. Or am I the only one who thinks that this sets a dangerous precedent?

You and I couldn't get away with such criminal behavior. What would be the outcome if twenty menacing people surrounded a store yelling death threats to the owner? Ship them right off to jail, right?

Now that our most vocal and staunch patriots are in Las Vegas for the summit I wonder if the Las Vegas police will let the pro-illegal crowd get away with this kind of provocation to violence?
