Minutemen action in Lake Forest, CA
SUMMARY
At the July 3rd Lake Forest City Council Meeting, one of the regular Lake Forest activists addressed illegal immigration and the once deported illegal alien who was caught in Lake Forest in the act of a "peeping Tom" who also exposed himself, as reported in the Orange County Register.
At the July 3rd meeting, the mayor declared before this resident - in a 10 minute outburst - that illegal immigration would no longer be discussed at city council meetings. Or national issues.
As a result, Minutemen and activists were mobilized to pack the following meeting on July 17th in order to specifically address the topic of illegal immigration as a LOCAL issue during the public comment segment of the meeting. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED THE MEETING!!!!!!!!!!!!
MAYOR DIXON as TYRANT
The Lake Forest City Council Meeting was packed with Minutemen and many citizens advocating for an animal shelter in Lake Forest. Standing room only.
"Are we out of chairs?" The mayor asked at the beginning of the meeting.
"YES!" the marshal replied from the back of the room.
MAYOR DIXON'S SPEECH:
To the utter amazement of we the people, Mayor Dixon began the meeting with a long speech stating that at city council meetings, public comments are limited to topics only within the "jurisdiction" of the city. According to the Brown Act.
Then Mayor Dixon had the city attorney read from some obscure text to back this point up.
(HUH? Uh, Mayor... PUBLIC comments...FREEDOM OF SPEECH!
Deb, passed around a note to the Minutemen that read: at Costa Mesa City Council Meetings there is a woman who reads her poetry during public comments.)
Mayor Dixon said there was to be no clapping: no hooting. He also said he would have anyone escorted out of the meeting who did not follow his guidelines.

In the name of free speech, Councilwoman Rudolph, bravely interrupted, and asked the mayor for clarification.
The entire standing-room-only audience CLAPPED loudly for the councilwoman.
Mayor Dixon did NOT appreciate the councilwoman's request, but a discussion ensued.

Next, Councilwoman McCullough stated she had never heard of limiting the topic during public comments.
Again, the entire room filled with applause when the councilwoman spoke up.
A spat of sorts ensued between the mayor and the councilwoman. The audience applauded the councilwoman multiple times.
I believe there was also some mild hooting.
The two councilwomen completely undermined Mayor Dixon's attempt at tyranny - to the raucous approval of the audience.
The city attorney did not utter a peep in defense of the mayor....
PUBLIC SPEAKERS
Mayor Dixon stated that he would hold speakers to the 3 minute limit. And that after a half hour, public speaking would close but that speakers could address the city council at the end of the regular meeting. Fair enough.
The city council had the 8 animal shelter public speakers go first.
FIVE MINUTEMEN SPEAK UP
Ten speakers were scheduled to talk about illegal immigration; five Minutemen were able to speak at the beginning of the meeting, before public comments were closed to resume at the end of the city council meeting.
Elliot:
an attorney - spoke first and read from specific laws - ON THE BOOKS - that clearly state local law enforcement can enforce immigration laws
Cheryl:
gave an excellent speech on law enforcement and its ability to work with ICE as she had met with Police Chief Corona the day before and knew the facts. She said look to the Boston Tea Party - because a NEW AMERICAN REVOLUTION is here NOW!
TWO COMBAT VETERANS SPEAK OUT! both AMERICAN Hispanics...
Many of our Minutemen present at that city council meeting are American Heroes: Veterans of War.
Raymond Herrera, MMP National Rally Spokesman:
took to the podium - a man who has faced combat on foreign soil prepared to DIE for this country - and said to the mayor that in regard to his tyrannical speech:
"Mayor - a drawing of you as a KKK member circulated this room."
The entire room seemed shocked at this revelation - as the mayor turned to the city attorney for support, then the mayor said, "This is your first warning!"
Herrera said, "This is your warning - Your mayorship and city attorney belong in Communist Red China." This comment - from the mouth of a man willing to die on foreign soil for his country. The mayor sputtered in shock - motioning for the sheriff.
"We will be doing a First Amendment , American flag rally in front of your house mayor," Herrera announced.
"THAT'S a Threat! That's a THREAT!" the mayor hollered out and called for the sheriff to escort Herrera out of the meeting.
As Herrera was being escorted out - another of our brave combat veterans - calmly rose to his feet and in a loud voice began to repeat, "FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS! FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!"
Again please keep in mind both of these men have faced mortal combat on foreign soil prepared to die for freedom of speech, for America...
The mayor had the second combat veteran immediately escorted out of the meeting. Both men left the meeting without incident.
However, apparently during the course of the meeting, about 20 voters stated to the two men - waiting outside - that they stood with them NOT the mayor. And that they intend to VOTE the mayor out of office....
Robin:
spoke after the hoopla died down about the fact the City of Lake Forest should be grateful to its citizens fighting illegal immigration instead of fleeing the city.
Dee:
gave a beautiful speech! In a polite manner, she told the city council that when she heard Lake Forest had declared illegal immigration was not to be talked about, that was a challenge to her to speak out! She talked about her Choctaw heritage.
Larry:
gave an eloquent talk about the fact that Lake Forest - along with other cities - can create an atmosphere that is not welcoming to illegal immigrants. He gave examples of other cities across the nation accomplishing this goal.
At the point, the mayor closed the public comments segment to be resumed at the end of the city council meeting. We had four more speakers scheduled to talk about illegal immigration.
ACLU MEETING
ACLU SC
http://www.aclu-sc.org
The Minutemen have been infiltrating the monthly Orange County ACLU http://www.aclu-sc.org/News/Releases/2005/101326/ meetings for several months - held in the Irvine Water District public meeting room.
At the June meeting, the ACLU members seemed particularly peeved by the Minutemen in attendance. They would not speak with us. And answered all of our questions with - "Call the ACLU OC office."
But when we call the ACLU OC office - no one will speak with us there either. Or return our calls.
On July 17th - we arrived an hour late to the OC ACLU monthly meeting as we had been at the Lake Forest City Council Meeting. There was no one in the darkened meeting room where the ACLU normally meets.
We don't know if the ACLU members left early or, perhaps, they have changed their location due to continued Minuteman attendance. Stay tuned: we will keep you posted!
Thumbs up to the minutemen!por las chupacabras todo, fuero de las chupacabras nada

Council meeting heats up
Minuteman representative is escorted out of Tuesday's council meeting.
By ALEJANDRA MOLINA
STAFF WRITER
A Minuteman representative was escorted out of the Lake Forest City Council meeting Tuesday night, after the mayor asked speakers to only address subjects under the city's control.
More than 100 people gathered in City Council chambers for the meeting. Chamber seats filled up quickly, leaving some to stand against the walls.
Some were there to speak about illegal immigration. Most, however, wanted to show their support for the regional animal shelter proposal. Shelter proponents wore pins on their shirts and Big Dog, the South County Animal Shelter coalition's mascot, made an appearance.
At the start of the public comment portion of the meeting, Mayor Richard Dixon asked the city attorney to specify the rights that the City Council has to limit certain comments that do not pertain to city jurisdiction.
In doing so, Dixon said that his intention was to "only address and allow comments based on issues that are within our jurisdiction and our ability to control" and requested speakers to find a way to make their comments relevant to the city's jurisdictions.
"We want to make sure that we keep the subject matter on a subject that we can actually do something about," Dixon said.
The move upset Raymond Herrera, a Minuteman representative, who said he felt the mayor was directing his comments toward the Minuteman Project. Herrera told Dixon that his leadership would be better suited for "Communist Red China."
Dixon then gave him a first warning. Herrera fired back, telling Dixon "Here's your first warning, I'm going to have a First Amendment rally in front of your house." Herrera was then escorted out by a security guard.
During the half-hour comment period, speakers asked that a regional animal shelter be built, and urged the city to combat illegal immigration.

Raymond Herrera is the man. I've seen video of him confronting 10 or 15
day workers and they were MAD. His bravery and commitment to the minutemen are to be commended.
