Misguided vigilantism
Our position: The Minutemen patrolling the Mexican border aren't helping problem.
December 1, 2007
That's your typical scene along the United States-Mexican border, where Minutemen are on patrol, on the lookout for people trying to sneak in to this country.
Whether it's Windermere or the Arizona border, citizens shouldn't be packing guns, looking for action.
President George W. Bush two years ago labeled these kinds of armed private groups as vigilantes. He's right. This is a tragedy waiting to happen. When somebody gets trigger happy in the desert, somebody is going to get killed -- maybe a Mexican, maybe a civilian on patrol.
And where are the United States Border Patrol agents? They're just thankful for any help they can get. They just ask that the Minutemen limit themselves to spotting and reporting.
Chances are you can thank your local congressman for this mess. By failing to pass a comprehensive reform bill, our borders remain largely unsecured. Vigilantes disguised as patriots aren't the solution. It's nothing more than a quick-fix mentality, which doesn't begin to address root causes or what to do with an estimated 12 million undocumented workers in this country.
Patrolling the border may make some people think America is safer. Far from it. It has become the front line for the chaos that defines this country's immigration problem.
Too bad our nation's leaders can't get past the rhetoric and try to fix it.

Somebodies got to guard the darn border, our agents are hog tied by their amnesty promoting seditious leaders ! Like our fighting men they face imprisonment if they fire a weapon or touch a PC pet here or in country .
So I say not only lock and load ,[ shouldn't it be load and lock ? ] , but keep plenty of ammo on hand too !
There not watcing for Quakers on that border , they are watching for every vile kind of human the whole world has to offer up .
This is why we have the second ammendment to protect our familys and homeland .
I say put more armed citizens on the border . Don't shoot anyone unless they shoot first, then let em have it ! I'm so sick of this appeasing bunch of citizens in my nation !!!! Get off your butts and do something while theres still a trickel of hope that you can !

The Minutemen are doing the job for free that politicians refuse to do.
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion." Article IV Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution."Distrust and caution are the parents of security."
Benjamin Franklin

If Bush had put the Marines on the border, the minutemen wouldn't need to be there!!

I enjoyed the comments about this article underneath it at the link. They referred to the newspaper the "ORLANDO SLANTINAL"!!
I swear if we ever let Florida run the country, it'd be all over!! But God Bless the outstanding U.S. citizens in Florida, whose voices have been so silenced from the number of illegal aliens in the state and the number of people who have FAILED to assimilate, but succeeded in silencing the voices, culture and language of the American citizens who still live in Florida, the number of which becomes less and less as each year goes by.
And no, the Minutemen are not vigilantes! President Bush was just trying to put pressure on the American people to "stay quiet" about illegal immigration and to basically stay out of what he considered at the time to be his business and that of Mr. Vicente Fox. He thought he could succeed at that. He underestimated the American people....AGAIN.
We've come a long way since then. The Minutemen deserve paychecks signed by George W. Bush and the deepest appreciation and respect from the American people.
That's "the truth" and everybody knows it.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

The Minutemen would NOT be NECESSARY if the FEDS DID their JOB! The Minutemen are NOT vigilantes, either! They are PATRIOTS who DEARLY LOVE their country and are DEEPLY distressed by the UNMITIGAGED DISASTER ILLEGAL immigration has meant for America!

We can all thank God for the Minutemen. These brave patriots are at the front lines helping the border patrol against the illegal alien invasion. And as far as that little article is concerned, it is pure trash. It's another OBL freak whining because American citizens have finally woken up and are not going to take this illegal immigration garbage anymore!
The National Council of LaRaza is the largest*hate group.
