Politicians have always played games with votes. They make sure they have the votes so they can cover vulnerable members from controversial votes.

I have been thinking about Mitch McConnell and his desire to "put off" important votes until after the 2018 elections and his refusal to change the rules to 51 votes.

By keeping the rules in place at 60 he covers the anti Trump uniparty Republicans until after the mid terms. They can all "vote with Trump" safely with a 60 vote majority, so they can say they are "with the people " on the campaign trail. But if it is 51 votes, the "moderate" Republicans have to show their true colors and risk losing their mid terms. Just thinking of a logical reason for McConnell's obstructionist actions .

Is it possible?
