I recently attended a teacher's conference at our public school in which all parents were given a warning about MRSA virus. There is no mention of this being a flesh eating virus and it is only referred to as a staph infection. I am wondering how many parents are not taking this serious and have thrown the paper away and don't even know what this really is. A staph infection does not sound as bad as a flesh eating virus. This is very disturbing to receive such information and even think about the possibility that your children could be at risk. Why are these 3rd world diseases in our public schools in the first place. My children are required to have a physical upon entrance to school not to mention vaccinations. Are children from these 3rd world countries not required to have these physicals or vaccinations?

The paper states, "Much attention has been given regarding the MSRA virus in the news media. I would like to share a few facts with you regarding this medical threat and what we are doing at -----------. First, MRSA is a staph infection that is very resistant to the anti biotic treatment. Fortunately, it is also very rare. While there is a case of possible MRSA in the state, there have been no cases reported in this county or surrounding counties. Physicians are required to report MRSA to their county health department. Please instruct you child to wash his hands frequently and to not share drinks or food. Doing these basic and simple practices will help keep our students healthy."
