Multikulti doesn't work, will it for us?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101017/ts ... mmigration

BERLIN (AFP) – Germany's attempts to create a multi-cultural society in which people from various cultural backgrounds live together peacefully have failed, Chancellor Angela Merkel has said.

"Multikulti", the concept that "we are now living side by side and are happy about it," does not work, Merkel told a meeting of younger members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party at Potsdam near Berlin.

"This approach has failed, totally," she said in Saturday's speech.

Merkel spoke a week after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which they pledged to do more to improve the often poor integration record of Germany's 2.5-million-strong Turkish community.

Horst Seehofer, the leader of the CDU's Bavarian sister party, CSU, told the same party meeting Friday that the two Union parties were "committed to a dominant German culture and opposed to a multicultural one.

    "'Multikulti' is dead," he said.

While warning against "immigration that weighs down on our social system", Merkel said that Germany needed specialists from overseas to keep the pace of its economic development.

According to the head of the German chamber of commerce and industry, Hans Heinrich Driftmann, Germany is in urgent need of about 400,000 engineers and qualified workers.

"The lack is causing a loss of growth of about one percent," he said in an interview.

Jewish leaders in Germany meanwhile warned that German society and democracy were under threat from extremists.

A recent expert study should prompt the government to act against antidemocratic ideas, the secretary general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Stephan Kramer, told the Rheinpfalz am Sonntag weekly.

The study, by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation think tank, showed that more than one third (34.3 percent) of those surveyed believed Germany's 16 million immigrants or people with foreign origins came to the country for the social benefits.

Around the same number (35.6 percent) think Germany is being "over-run by foreigners" and more than one in 10 called for a "Fuehrer" to run the country "with a strong hand".

Thirty-two percent of people said they agreed with the statement: "Foreigners should be sent home when jobs are scarce."

Far-right attitudes are found not only at the extremes of German society, but "to a worrying degree at the centre of society," the report noted.

More than half (58.4 percent) of the 2,411 people polled thought the around four million Muslims in Germany should have their religious practices "significantly curbed."

The integration of Muslims has been a hot button issue since August when a member of Germany's central bank sparked outrage by saying the country was being made "more stupid" by poorly educated and unproductive Muslim migrants with headscarves.

The banker, Thilo Sarrazin, has since resigned but his book on the subject -- "Germany Does Itself In" -- has flown off the shelves, and polls showed considerable sympathy for some of his views.

Kramer also criticised CSU leader Seehofer for ideas which he said were "not only petty but outright irresponsible" and slammed the current immigration debate as "hysterical".

    Sound familiar?

Merkel is absolutely right! The miscalculation of this little experiment is third-world peasants that are allowed to migrate into the host country will embrace, assimilate and become part of the host country. But that has not happened, largely, because so many have been allowed to enter with no checks or balances. In turn, they have no reason to assimilate and for the most part, refuse to.

In turn, the burden is now on the host citizens, essentially ordered to tolerate immigrants and their efforts not to assimilate, of course under the guise of promoting "multiculturism and diversity." Any objections to this mandate and you are immediately branded a racist.

Same thing is happening here in the United States in respect to illegals from mexico and even legal immigrants arriving from third-world countries. They simply settle into their own ethnic enclaves, never to emerge as part of the host society.

Not only do these people refuse to assimilate, they can become quite militant in their efforts to not embrace their adopted country. Our government in turn placates and panders to these miscreants, bending over backwards to accommodate them.

Maybe to some extent it would work. BUT NOT when you allow millions of ILLEGAL ALIENS in to the country and the majority (78%) are Hispanic and and allow them to break laws and do not assimilate, and in many cases try to out populate the rest of the inhabitants of this country.

But the major thing ,is that the politicians of the USA DO NOT listen to the American citizens. BUT cater to the ILLEGAL ALIENS and their support groups. And refuse to close our southern borders.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the countries of origin for the largest numbers of illegal immigrants are as follows:

    For 2009[15]

Country of origin Raw number Percent of total Percent change 2000 to 2009
    Mexico 6,650,000 62 42%
    El Salvador 530,000 5 25%
    Guatemala 480,000 4 65%
    Honduras 320,000 3 95%
    Philippines 270,000 2 33%
    India 200,000 2 64%

Every country listed is a third world, non-English speaking country, inundated with poverty. For the most part, those arriving from countries listed are poor, uneducated, and will be heavily dependent upon government assistance to survive in this country.

Which political party do you think these people are likely to support?

And we can thank Ted Kennedy among others for this shift in immigration policy with his support of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. By "equalizing" (actually substantially reducing immigration from European nations) immigration policies, the act resulted in new immigration from non-European nations which changed the ethnic make-up of the United States.

Immigration doubled between 1965 and 1970, and doubled again between 1970 and 1990. The most dramatic effect was to shift immigration from Europe to Asia, Central, and South America.

Kennedy stood on the Senate floor in 1962 and said this in support of the bill:

"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same.... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset.... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia.... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think.... It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs."

Is this what happened? The numbers listed seem to suggest otherwise. Either Kennedy was woefully wrong, or he was a liar. And before his death, he had the audacity to stand on the Senate floor yet again in support of another amnesty that would flood this country with millions more third-world invaders, who entered this country of our immigration laws.

To me, it seems as if the "critics" of this bill were right all along, just as the critics of the current amnesty debate have voiced their objections.
