Muslim Appointee To Va. Immigration Panel Resigns

    Kaine Looking Into Videos

    POSTED: 12:29 pm EDT September 27, 2007
    UPDATED: 3:02 pm EDT September 27, 2007

RICHMOND, Va. -- A man shown denouncing Israel and praising "the jihad way" resigned Thursday from the Virginia state Commission on Immigration.

Muslim American Society president Dr. Esam Omeish was appointed to the commission by Gov. Tim Kaine.

In a video that appears on YouTube, Omeish is shown at a rally in Washington last year denouncing the invasion of Lebanon during that time by what he calls the "Israeli war machine."

Omeish, a surgeon at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, also accused Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and said the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.

In a separate, undated video, Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims, "The jihad way is the way to liberate your land."

A caller to Kaine's radio program Thursday on the Virginia News Network asked the governor about the Omeish appointment and the video.

Kaine said in a statement that he's concerned about Omeish's statements. The governor said Omeish did not want the controversy to distract from the work of the Commission.

They need to investigate every muslim doctor. They seem to have a thing for killing people, not healing them.

Now the people of Virginia need to question Democratic Gov. Timothy M. Kaine's decision to appoint a Muslim extremist to the Commission on Immigration. Perhaps because of donation potential from Muslim groups? Perhaps...just thoughtlessness on the Governors part. I guess Texas may not have the worst Governor after all!

The answer can probably be found in the Governor's campaign finance report. It should be on file with the secretary of state.

Thats one out of tens of thousands who feel the same way .

They are jusy as dangerous to us as the other illegals, but for some reason don't get near the attention . Any thread or reply about this group is ignored or pulled from most conservative sites .

Fiinally ! The news had a word to say about our NORTHERN BORDER today that is the longest border on earth and the most un-protected . Most terror cells are in Canada, not Mexico

But I am very happy about the Dream Act failing . We the people did this !

    Gov. Questioned About Muslim Appointee

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine examined online videos Thursday that show a man he appointed to the state Commission on Immigration condemning Israel and advocating "the jihad way," his spokesman said.
In a video that appears on YouTube, Muslim American Society president Dr. Esam S. Omesh is shown at an August 2006 rally in Washington denouncing an invasion of Lebanon by the "Israeli war machine."

Omesh, chief of the division of general surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, also accused Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and said the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.

In a separate, undated video, Omesh tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims: "...you have learned the way, that you have known that the jihad way is the way to liberate your land."

That video was credited to Investigative Project, a Washington-based organization that investigates radical Islamic organizations.

A caller to Kaine's program on WRVA radio in Richmond asked the governor Thursday morning about the Omesh appointment and the video.

"That is news to me, what you say, and it's something we will check out," Kaine told the caller, identified on the air only by the name Kent.

Kaine spokesman Kevin Hall said the governor had been unable to reach Omesh.

Mahdi Bray, a spokesman for the MAS, told The Associated Press that Omesh was performing surgery and not available for comment.

Omesh was among 10 appointments Kaine made on Aug. 2 to a 20-member panel created this year by the General Assembly to assess the benefits and costs of immigration and the effects on federal immigration policies on the state. The commission met in Richmond for the first time Tuesday.
