My quest to find a part time job

Well I've been looking for part time work on and off for over
seven months. Whenever the local school board has job postings
I apply. I am ALWAYS over qualified but do so anyway since I have
experience doing secretarial -receptionist work. I have NEVER gotten
    a call back.

The other day I visit the local office in regards to another issue
and see why. See the jobs posted never said must be bilingual but
once I entered the office I could see that indeed was the prerequisite.
EVERY person in the office was Hispanic. I can't say I was shocked. This
is after all California but I did feel frustrated and like a second class
citizen. Here I am in my own country
born raised and educated and can't even get a job answering the local
    school's phone?

I tell ya. Can't wait to leave this hell hole.

P.S. A little off topic. My daughter attends the local school which is over
89% Hispanic. Needless to say these people stare at her (ESPECIALLY the baby making mothers who have nothing to do all day but hang at the
school sitting on the benches outside)
and the other American children like what the hell are you at OUR school for? My frustration is so wide and deep with this issue. It's like we don't belong in our own country. It's like WE need to be gone already. SMH.

Just my vent for today. Thanks.

Where at in California? I live in Huntington Beach, CA. and parents can't hang around campus during school hours. It's called loitering and the school cop would remove them immediatley. I know this because I do alot of side work (outside of my county job which is only 10 days a month), as a lic. C-10 electrical contractor for the school district. I had to be finger printed and background checked through the Dept. of Justice to be working on campus during school hours.

Ontario.........I grew up there but that was back when it was a small town, I went to Chaffey High school. Back then the town ened at Vineyard ave, there was nothing but vineyards, sheepherders would bring in their sheep to keep it cleared out and I used to take a shotgun out there and hunt rabbits. Do they still have the Tiger statue in front of the High School?
I do know what you mean about the job market, when I was in Colorado looking for a new job I applied for a position as a county mechanic, I was asked if I had my own tools, yes I have about twenty thousand dollars worth of tools and twenty eight years working as a mechanic, I was asked if I could rebuild diesel engines and knew how to arc weld, yes I have been doing it for years.
I was told that if I was hired they would start me off at forteen dollars an hour........forteen dollars an hour? they were paying illegals twelve dollars an hour down in Denver to do counter work at MacDonalds now if anybody can tell me the sense in this I would love to hear it.
BTW I found out later that they hired some young kid who never even bothered to show up for work and here I was with tools in hand and years of experience but they didn't want me.

I feel your pain! I have had similar experiences in this country lately. I also feel like a stranger in my own country anymore.

It's FULL of illegals. You can count the American kids on two hands. I refuse to let my son attend any of the local schools. It's ridiculous.

I don't know about the tiger statue but the town expands a little farther
than Vineyard Ave these days. LOL.

Moved out of the "hell hole" 7 months ago. Moved to PA where I thought I would escape from the illegal immigrant problem. NOT. The problem of illegal immigration is nationwide.

I started searching for a part-time job here also. The search started over 7 months ago and even though there was never any indication that they were looking for "bi-lingal". After about 2 months passed, I returned to one of the employer's office and sure enough there was a Hispanic sitting at the desk that was vacant.

A month ago I was at a yard sale and saw a Rand McNally Insta-Phrase Travel Translator. Applied for a job and was asked if I could converse in Spanish. I told them "Yes". Pulled out the translator and demonstrated. I was hired on the spot. LOL Now...No hablo espanol! Que! No aqua! etc. Hummmmm I wonder how long I'll be working.
