Conover Amber Alert Ends in Piedmont, Suspect Still on Loose

CONOVER, N.C. (WGHP) - The search for a missing Conover infant ended in Davie County early Monday morning.

An Amber Alert was issued late Sunday night for 2-month-old Catalin Hoard of Conover. Police believed she was with Saturnino Ortega-Vidal.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputies chased a car fitting the description in the Amber Alert near the Bermuda Run Community in Davie County.

Police said the suspect inside the car ditched the vehicle and infant and ran away. Police are still searching for the suspect.

The child was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and is expected to be ok.

Warrants have been issued for Ortega-Vidal. He faces kidnapping and assault charges. Conover Police said they are not sure if he is related to the child.

Due to heavy rain across the Piedmont, search crews have suspended the search for Ortega-Vidal. Anyone with information about where Saturnino Ortega-Vidal is located should contact the Conover Police Department immediately at (82 464-3112.
