Just think, these 5 students would probably be perfect candidates for the DREAM Act. Nice, huh?

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) - The students who falsely accused a Wiley Middle School teacher of inappropriate conduct will face some discipline, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The students could face punishment ranging from school "community service" to an in-school suspension, a school system spokesman said this morning. Spokesman Theo Helm said he could not comment about specific students or specific cases because of privacy laws.

Five students at Wiley Middle School accused Jason Ford, an English-as-a-second-language teacher, of having inappropriate contact with them in May. Following an investigation, the police department determined the students made allegations against Ford because of prior disciplinary actions he had taken involving the students.

According to the police department, the investigation is now closed.

The school system never informed police of the students' allegations, though it is required to by state law. The Winston-Salem Police Department investigated the students' claims and determined they had no merit.

Ford, who has been suspended from his job with pay, is meeting with Don Martin, superintendent of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, this morning to discuss whether or not he will return to the classroom, according to the paper.

The State Bureau of Investigation is trying to determine why the school system did not inform police of the allegations. The school board's lawyer, Drew Davis, was suspended with pay on Sept. 7, pending the results of the SBI investigation into the school system's response to the allegations against Ford.
