Near Riots at UCLA Over Proposed 32% Tuition Hike

Near Riots at UCLA Over Proposed 32% Tuition Hike

Daily Bruin: A crowd of more than 500 demonstrators rushed Covel Commons on Wednesday to protest a proposed 32 percent student fee increase. They were met by dozens of university police, some of whom were outfitted in riot gear. At one point, protesters broke through police barricades that surrounded the main entrance to Covel. Officers responded to the stampede of students and union workers by extending the metal barricades around the entrance and using nightsticks and Taser guns to force the crowd back.

I feel sorry for students these days. The tuition is getting so high, how can they keep going to school? Especially wtih the economy the way it is. FGS, they just want to get an education. I wish them luck in their protest.

Someone's gotta pay for all the illegal aliens getting in-state tuition or even free tuition. Maybe these students will wake up now?

Illegal immigration causes many problems and this is one of them. Too bad the students can't figure it out. And as long as the illegal immigration is not dealt with, the problems will just get worse. The students need to say no to illegal immigration and no to Obama. Trying to stop the increase was a futile effort.

I have noticed that at places like Michigan State University, professors who are anti-American get "funded chairs" in order to teach students to hate the United States. Many of these funded departments (like the Julian Zamora fellowship) also seem to hire alot of non-academic personnel as well, ratcheting up hundreds of thousands of dollars in salaries for doing nothing more than arranging tables and chairs and typing up anti-American propaganda. Tuition dollars have to cover alot of this activity.

If you wade through all the crap, here is the typical resume of a university "Hispanic studies" professor. Notice that "transnational" is academic-speak for "no borders":

And to think that it was the Univesity of California at Berkely which raised student protests -- beginning with those against the Vietnam War -- to a high art form. I guess it's a different story when the "oppressive regime" you are protesting is located in Sacramento!
