New argument against H1B & Co.

    Hi folks,

Recently I have found few articles on how French president Sarkozy and British prime minister Brown pledged to stop immigration of qualified workers from developing countries. Just now I'm only able to locate articles on Sarkozy:

France has no intention to take away African elites: Sarkozy

"Qualified Africans…go back home to develop Africa!", Sarkozy pleads

Maybe you can mention this when making calls to your congressmen and senators when asking them to stop H1B. Developing countries need their own specialists!

How many people are not working in a field they went to school for or is underemployed or underpaid because of the H1-B's, well I can say I am both underpaid and underemployed Network Administrator!!!

    BorderLegionnaire,

in Germany they had unemployment (official!) of 11% one year ago and business cried that they couldn't find anyone to do a work.

In the UK there is official unemployment of less than 2%, governement is crying that they must import workers but according to recently published study 1/6 of all children grow in families where no one works.

This "we need imported workers" is just the big lie of our time.

France is even worse (IMHO they are already finished), Germany is a bit better, Belgium and Netherland are pretty bad.

French self-confidence is going up with Sarkozy.... they like (for a change) a straight shooter, blunt talker who means what he says... elected despite strong socialist tendencies in France/Europe....

we'll see if he is able to work with his "Congress" and get things done; he promised to bring back the 38-40 hour week (from current 35) without changing salaries...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a change at the Elysee Palace in Paris.... President Nicolas Sarkozy, son of a Hungarian immigrant, is a straight shooter who does not obfuscate or hesitate. During his tenure as the Interior Minister under Jacques Chirac, he created a new Department called "Immigration and National Idendity", a move decried by his opponents, the intellectual elite, but favored by most French voters. (elected with 53% over a typical euro-socialist)

He has taken a tough stand on limited and controlled immigration. At a recent visit to Dakar (Senegal) from where millions would like to migrate to France, Sarkozy made these statements in the presence of the Head of State of Senegal:

    QUOTE
France is not ashamed of its current efforts and will continue in the same way. But it must be said here, we cannot take everybody. I do not have two messages. I do not come to Africa to tell a different story than when I am in Paris.

I understand the urge among so many of you to leave the problems of Africa. I understand the temptation of the exile.

I did not come to erase the past. I did not come to deny our mistakes and our crimes of the past... I did not come to speak of repentance, though I recognize the error of the colonization of Africa, the pillages, our past feelings of superiority as Europeans; but we also recognize the contributions made to France by so many from Africa. Let's not rehash the past, but look toward the future. France will not decide on your behalf.... If you wish our aid to be invested instead of embezzled, then France is ready to work with you."
