Representative Heath Shuler (D-NC) introduced the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE Act) (H.R. 408 on November 6, with bi-partisan support.

The SAVE Act boasts 44 Democrat and 46 Republican original co-sponsors, and continues to earn new co-sponsorships from members of both parties. Click here to view the current list of co-sponsors.

NumbersUSA believes this immigration enforcement-only bill is the perfect vehicle to pass immigration legislation through the Democrat-controlled Congress that would actually improve the lives of most Americans.

The SAVE Act also includes measures to protect the environment, including:

Extra resources for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Park Service, and Forest Service to help the Border Patrol avoid driving through sensitive areas; and

Language directing DHS to consult with the agency owning the land before constructing barriers, roads, etc. to make sure the plan takes environmental considerations into account.

Your representative has a record of supporting environmentally-friendly legislation, and may have resisted enforcement bills in the p ast due to environmental concerns. Please send this fax to them and urge them to co-sponsor the environmentally-friendly SAVE Act.

Co-sponsoring the SAVE Act provides House Democrats with a unique opportunity to stand on the side of American workers and against outlaw companies hiring illegal aliens. That is why it is so important that your Representative hear from you today.
