Stem the tide of illegal immigration

The state of New Hampshire has been adversely affected by illegal aliens entering our state, yet if state Rep. Lily Mesa from Manchester has her way, HB404 would prohibit local police from enforcing immigration law and make New Hampshire a sanctuary state for illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens are costing the taxpayers of New Hampshire millions of dollars, through emergency room medical services, educating their children in our schools, overcrowded housing, crime, and gangs.

Illegal aliens are attracted by job opportunities provided by employers trying to gain a competitive edge, who are willing to break the law by hiring workers with no legal right to work in our country.

A sound solution is to enforce our laws and streamline bureaucracy. Building a fence on our entire border would help but is only a partial solution to the problem which has many facets.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is consistently trying to pull the wool over our eyes by taking bits and pieces of the amnesty bill and trying to attach it as amendments to other bills.

He and others are counting on fatigue by the American public. He hopes we will stop paying attention to what he and others are trying to do. He's forgotten Washington works for us. "We the people" do not work for them.

It is time that New Hampshire's concerned citizens take a stand to prevent our state from becoming a sanctuary state and to make certain our immigration laws are enforced.
