Today the Senate has taken up the SCHIP bill again. Have you been calling? The bill increases 500 million dollars and decreases by 400,000 the number of children insured according to Senator Cornyn. It allows illegal aliens access too.

I think GeorgiaPeach is telling us they are about to vote right now. I'm listening to CSPAN2 right now, and I think the vote is taking place after the roll call that is happening as I type.

Yes, MW, I was alerting everyone that the vote was about to commence. I have called and called, though I know my Senators will vote for it even after telling them that the State's Representatives have both said that it will not leave out illegal aliens. It is difficult to tell people it does, when they keep denying the truth and the staffers just keep repeating the same.

64 to 30. The SCHIP Bill is passed. Now it goes on to the President for signature or veto.

I could be wrong, however, I still don't think the SCHIP was changed enough to convince Bush to sign it. It does not have the votes to override a Bush veto.

It still does not negate the fact that so many Senators just give our dollars away to those they should not and do not make sure that the truly needy ones receive. Their attitude is a few hundred million here, a few hundred million there, some illegal aliens insured, some poor overlooked, oh well.
