(ANSA) - ROME, 15 SET - Italy's extending the suspension of Schengen rules with Spain for another 15 days does not mark any bias against Madrod but is just a matter of security after the interior ministry flagged terrorist infiltration risks in the wake of the Ceuta crisis, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday. "This is not an attitude directed against anyone, nor is it a political stance," said Tajani, who is also deputy premier, on the sidelines of a meeting with his Slovenian counterpart, Tone Kajzar. "Our priority is ensuring internal and border security. "There is no land border with Spain; rather, there are ships and planes arriving from Spain, and I believe this measure is justified as long as the situation in Ceuta remains so dramatic. "We must not underestimate what has happened and what is still unfolding; therefore, we must ensure our borders are secure." No migrant has reached Italy from Ceuta, where 72,000 migrants swam from surrounding Morocco on July 30-31 only for the vast majority to be returned almost immediately. Some 5,000 rough sleepers including 1,600 unaccompanied children remain in the Spanish exclave sparking local protests amid reports of anti-social behaviour and rapes of migrant women and girls.
