    North American Union!

You know honestly if we had a union with Canada I really wouldn't care but NOT Mexico! Mexico is not a part of our North America.

I don't want a UNION with anyone! Giving up AMERICAN Sovereignty is not my idea of a good thing, let alone even considered a few years ago.

NOPE! Not me! Canada has turned so socialist, what's next but the simese twin of socialism which is communisim. The government is now prosecuting pastors that preach from passages in the Bible about Homosexuality. Is that freedom of religion, and the right to be directed by your faith and conscience? Hardly!

There is no issue whether they're a good or not so good country..

    SOVEREINGTY.........AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY

Why would anyone even think past that? As thought it would depend on the other country's type of government? It's insane

You could have a union without giving up sovereignty.

And Stephen Harper, the Canadian Prime Minster is someone who most of you would really support. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Harper

We're already so close. An official union could help both of us.

I don't want a union - period. I think we could have trade deals that were mutually beneficial without sacrificing our country - I stress 'mutually beneficial'.

Now, it would seem to be, however, that for any union to work to mutual benefit, all countries would have to kinda be on the same footing - economically.

I don't see how a country like the US can form union with a third world country. That just seems like some pretty one-sided.

Of course, I will be the first to say I don't have a clue about lofty economic theory - but that just doesn't seem to work.

A union could be just that though, trade deals that are mutually beneficial.

And we could also have policies that if you're hiring someone to work you would first have to look in the United States, and if you can't find someone here then you would also have to look in Canada (and vice-versa) before hiring a foreigner. That would help keep things like English and our culture.
