I called congress women zoe lofgren just now. her assistant picked up and said they are revieweing the bill and there will not be any vote on it today. The vote will take place in two months time. this is the conversation with her.

GO: Hello, I am GO, I have a question related to HR 5882 bill thats supposed to be passed today what happened to that bill?
ZLA: Yes but they have decided to vote on it in two months time. There are working on some changes that will be made in the bill and they are reviewing it now. There wont be any vote today.

GO: Ok. Do you think this bill will be passed?
ZLA: I dont know. There was some opposition. Its 50:50 at this point.

GO: When do you think they will pass the bill?
ZLA: I dont know. The voting will take place in two months time.

is that the bill linked to E-verify that Senator Menendez is trying to blocked unless 550,000 "recaptured" visas are added?

I never saw this mentioned in current discussions. Can you get the source of that? When I google it again I will look for it.

I was one of the ones who called Zoe Lofgrin's office two weeks ago. An aide who picked up the phone told me he "didn't deal with that issue" but I kept talking with him anyway. He then said that the bill was to "recapture Green Cards that had been lost to Burocratric ineptitude (sp?)" but I managed to keep talking anyway. Pointing out that the visas were for jobs that had thrown Americans out of work using foreign replacement workers so the Green Cards were not needed anyway". He did not sound too happy that I knew the truth. He probably thought the average American would say "Oh ya. They have been "recaptured" that makes sense. Nothing wrong there."

I now get the impression that thousands of Americans are calling Lofgrin's number everyday as they now have a phone screener taking down the reason for the call.

The phone calls work! Be polite. Be informative. The H1-B advocates are trying to say that opponents of Green Card 'recapture' are 'anti-immigrant' but now even some of the H1-Bs from India are saying that this is not true. We are not anti-immigrant at all! We celebrate the contributions of our Indian co-workers. But keep it legal. If the H1-B visa procedures were changed without the wishes of the American electorate that is fraud. And fraudulent immigration is illegal immigration.

Good call. They have done alot of ground work. kind of humorous that they tell people not to call Zoe Lofgren. She must be pretty upset right now.

Another funny quote:

"(3) As usual Do NOT get into the CIR issue or illegal Immigration. If the aide is confusing with CIR or illegal immigration, just tell them that these are legal immigration bills."

I would call them and say that having our Congress trick us into accepting more foreign replacement workers is illegal immigration.
