CARSON CITY, Nev. -- U.S. Sen. Harry Reid will host a telephonic town hall meeting this week to discuss health care reform.

The Democratic Senate Majority Leader has scheduled the meeting Friday, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

In a written release, his office says about 50,000 Nevadans will be invited to participate. Anyone interested in taking part can register online through the senator's Web site, http://www.reid.senate.gov.

Registration closes at noon Thursday and is open to people within Nevada area codes 702 or 775.

Reid's office says the tele-town hall format will allow discussion of the issue and discourage outbursts that have disrupted other forums around the country.
