NY Times Seems Upset That Republicans Are Branding Democrats As Communists
NY Times Seems Upset That Republicans Are Branding Democrats As Communists
By William Teach September 12, 2026 – 10:30 am
I mean, the Fish Wrap has seen the huge number of Democrats running as “Democratic Socialists Of America”, right? That the mayor of the city the Times is in claims to be a DSA member? That AOC has long branded herself as a Socialist?Republicans, Facing Midterm Peril, Try to Brand Democrats as CommunistsIt’s baseless, you guys! In practice, what’s the difference between Communism and Socialism? From what we’ve seen in history, the only difference is allowing voting. That’s about it. Granted, it would be better if Republicans called them Socialists, it would have the same impact. The communism tag might have some impact with Boomers and even older Gen X, but, not with the younger folks.
One by one, Republican speakers at President Trump’s midterm convention in Dallas this week turned to a far-fetched argument with echoes of the Cold War.
Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana claimed, “Next year the communists will be in Congress — that’s what’s so frightening.” Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana, the No. 2 House Republican, said implausibly that there had been a “Bolshevik Revolution in the Democrat Party.”
And when Mr. Trump, the ringleader of this new Red Scare, took the stage, he returned — again and again and again — to baseless claims that Democrats were running as communists in the midterms.
“It’s going to be a communist country if they win,” he predicted, one of at least 60 times a speaker at the convention mentioned communism or communists.
Although this year’s Democratic primary season brought a surge of left-wing momentum, and a handful of victories by democratic socialists running for Congress in Colorado, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Florida, no credible midterm candidate identifies as a communist. And there is little momentum behind any communist movement in U.S. politics at the federal level.LOL, this is where the Fish Wrap wants to go, semantics.
“Stalin. Mao. Castro. Democrats,” the Republican National Committee wrote on social media last month. “Different leaders, same goal.”Yeah, because discussing how they want to get rid of all cops and prisons and tax everyone into oblivion isn’t extremist or something.
Whether the attacks make a difference in the midterms is still far from clear. Some Democrats have expressed worry that the rise of democratic socialism in their party could play into Republican efforts to cast them as extremists and that constant mentions of communism could blur the lines for some voters. At the same time, Mr. Trump’s overheated language could weaken the force of the argument.
In some ways, far-left leaders have fed the argument. In 2020, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a leader of the progressive movement and a self-described democratic socialist, praised elements of the Communist Cuban revolution. And Darializa Avila Chevalier, a democratic socialist who unseated a Democratic congressman in a New York primary in June, once maintained a social-media account that circulated a post suggesting that public libraries should carry more Marxist literature.Huh. Anyhow, it is a long, long article trying to defend Democrats. Remember, the Credentialed Media is totally not biased.
Most Americans have unfavorable views of socialism, according to polls. Communism polls much worse. And even as Mr. Trump mislabels Democrats as communists, some Democrats have jokingly blurred the lines themselves, referring to the area of New York City where one democratic socialist House candidate won as the “Commie Corridor.”Remember, the NY Times and all their left wing Comrades try and brand Republicans as White Supremacists. Even when they are black or Asian. Even squishy ones like George W Bush and Mitt Romney.
