Obama delivers statement on government shutdown

What no "happy face", "no big smiles", pay attention here, what part of "DEFUND OBAMACARE" ,ie "THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT", don't you understand!! This is not what you fools passed against the wishes of the American public when you shut off your phones and ignored us with your illegal passage against the wishes of the American people...you didn't pass it, your forced it. It was bad then, but you had to have your "lackey" Roberts turn it into a tax, Chachangeeee. Guess what that won't work a pig is still a pig, defund it now........Remember what you did to begin with, you changed what you passed by exempting, and giving waivers to everyone and everything you could think of, including yourselves!!

So many users on obamacare.gov because they are laughing at your fiasco!!! Maybe you should take a endless vacation!

Instead of hysteria over a government shutdown, how about a government shut up?

Government Has Shut Down 17 Times Since 1976

    Tuesday, October 1, 2013 6:43

Since a new budgeting process was put into place in 1976, the U.S. government has shut down 17 times. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan each dealt with six shutdowns during their terms in office, lasting anywhere from one day to 2 1/2 weeks.

The last actual shutdown came in 1996 — though the government came close during budget negotiations in 2011.

The three-week shutdown that lasted from Dec. 16, 1995, to Jan. 6, 1996, ranks as the longest in U.S. history. As a result, about 284,000 federal workers were furloughed, and around 475,000 essential employees went without a paycheck, although they were eventually reimbursed.

While definately a bad thing to have happen, it is by no means a harbinger of economic collapse. Think about it, one of credit ratings agency threatened to take our AAA statuswith them from America over this shtdown yet we kept our AAA ratnig the 17 times before. So whats the differnce now? Things are bad and things have been bad before. Unless something goes over the brink this time economically, this will be no different than anyother time. Ive been crying wolf about an economic collapse for years now and while i still think it could happen, im beginning to wonder otherwise. -Mort

Watch: Obama Mocks Americans On Obamacare: “You Can’t Shut it Down”

    http://www.capitalisminstitute.org/obama-offers-nill/

He wants to be very clear on what will change!!!! How about the change you did to the Affordable care Act ie Obummercare, with the thousands of waivers and exemptions, and clearly having your Lackey "Roberts" change the catergory to a tax, along with exempting your self family and the rest of the crooked politicians.....That is not what was passed.

No wonder Pelosi said you had to pass it to read it, do you think we didn't notice that..

Between Bengazie, Obummercare, IRS, NSA, NDDA
,, DOJ, FAST and Furious along with the rest of the atrocities you rammed through, like budding up to Monsanto, it is time for you to be impeached. You DO NOT Work For the American People...

So much for the goose and the gander, remember this you work for us, we are not your slaves!!!!

I guess since the government is
"shut down" there will be a big
drop in the crime rate this week...

While they're shut down, I'm going
to take a breather, sit on the porch
and listen to Big Bill Broonzy sing
    the Blues.

    Warning: Good music alert.

Country blues icon Big Bill Broonzy performs "Worried Man Blues", "Hey Hey", and "How You Want It Done" in 1957 on the porch steps of the farmhouse at Circle Pines Center camp.

Big Bill's first visit to the Circle Pines Center was in 1953 in the company of Dr. Vera Morkovin and Studs Terkel. The cooperative year-round camp was located in Hastings, Michigan and Bill found employment there as camp cook during the Summer months from '53'56. Pete Seeger joined him there in July 1954 for a concert on the farmhouse lawn, recorded by Seeger for Chicago radio station WFMT-FM. Broonzy departed in early 1956 on a world wide tour including Europe, Africa, and South America.

    Dear kathyet,

As a government shutdown loomed last night, the liberal media feverishly blamed Republicans for the Democrat-led Senate's refusal to compromise with House Republicans over the disastrous Obamacare legislation. Parroting the White House's talking points, CBS Evening News' Bob Schieffer "reported" on the "ultra-conservatives who are determined to delay health care."

This is typical of how the media have reported on the ObamaCare train wreck.

For the past six months, there has been a steady drip of bad news for Obamacare, but you wouldn't know it if you watched only the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) news networks. Here are just a few of the Obamacare stories they've downplayed or completely censored:

    • A study released by the Society of Actuaries predicts that costs will shoot up an average of 32 percent by 2017 for insurers serving the individual health care market.
    • Economists, business owners, and employees all report that Obamacare is shrinking the number of full-time jobs as they are being replaced by less stable, lower-paying part-time jobs.
    • A Quinnipiac University poll shows two-thirds of self-identified Democrats expect the law will either hurt them or have no benefit.

Aside from one random report by NBC, not one of these trouble spots for Obamacare has been mentioned on ABC, CBS, or NBC's evening news or their morning show broadcasts.

Earlier this summer, when Senator Max Baucus, a Democrat and chief architect of the law, opined that Obamacare will be a "train wreck," it took nearly two weeks before any major network acknowledged the senator's dire prediction.

And even when PBS's News Hour featured a story about President Obama's efforts to defend his health care law amid increasing public skepticism, those on the show conveniently failed to mention the harsh criticism of the law from three prominent labor union leaders and an increasing number of Democrat congressmen. This censorship has to stop.

    Stop Lying to Me!

America's so-called news media have abandoned journalism for shameless left-wing propaganda. Instead of reporting the news, they censor, lie, and distort to advance their radical left-wing agenda. Check out these recent examples:

    • The economy is a mess, but it's not Obama's fault. Despite the chronically weak economy (high unemployment, rising gas prices, falling incomes for the poor and middle class, 54 million Americans on food stamps, and a shrinking middle class), the liberal media circle the wagons to ensure that Obama and his progressive policies are not held responsible for the economic decay.
    • Obamacare is a disaster, but we are told to just grin and bear it. The liberal media are working overtime to censor Obamacare's explosive cost and messy implementation. They even had the audacity to censor the scathing letter three major unions, which are big-time Democrat supporters and financiers, sent to Congress slamming the law and demanding major overhaul or repeal! And major media outlets didn't even report that the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) recently terminated its 25-year affiliation with the AFL-CIO over Obamacare. Instead, liberal news outlets disparage the senators trying to fight this horrific law as "political terrorists" and "obstructionists."
    • The White House is engulfed in scandal, but we are told to look the other way. As more information about the IRS targeting Tea Party groups slowly surfaces, left-wing journalists have censored this scandal, trying desperately to protect the president and his administration.

These are just a few of the countless lies and distortions that the leftist media regularly feed to the American public. With directives straight from their political allies in Washington, the media silence dissension, conceal corruption, and spin Obama's failures.
That's where the Media Research Center comes in. The MRC has successfully shredded the credibility of some of the most outrageously liberal news outlets. Just last month, MSNBC reported that its viewership plummeted to its lowest level in six years, and CNN recently saw a drop of 32 percent.
Although fewer Americans are turning to the liberal media for their news, our job is far from finished. The MRC must keep the pressure on the liberal media until they're forced to stop censoring the news and report the TRUTH.
We invite you to join the MRC and tell the media "Stop Lying to Me!" With your help, we will continue to expose and neutralize the media's censorship and distortions and to educate the American public about the media's agenda.
And thanks to the generosity of two of our trustees, when you give before midnight on October 3, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar!
Imagine having DOUBLE THE IMPACT in fighting back against the liberal media and exposing their outrageous leftist agenda! When you give by midnight on October 3, you will do just that.
Please don't miss this opportunity to expose and counter the liberal media. Give to the MRC, have double the impact, and tell the media: "Stop Lying to Me!"
    Hey, Media—Stop Lying to Me!

    Goal: $50,000
    $15,494

If you're sick and tired of the lies the liberal media dish out day after day, then stand with the Media Research Center and demand the media stop telling lies! Through your generous gift to the MRC, you are helping us lead the charge against the media and expose their deceit and lies. Together we can force the liberal media to either report the truth or continue to watch their credibility plummet.

The fact is, the liberal media helped usher Obamacare into law, which makes them very reluctant to report any story that might undermine its success and ultimately damage their credibility. But the Media Research Center won't let them get away with it.

Tell the media: "Stop Lying to Me!"

Shutdown? What shutdown? States will carry on despite impasse in Washington

By Eric Boehm / October 1, 2013 / No Comments

Part 15 of 21 in the series Shutdown 2013
CALLING IT QUITS: House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, center, speaks briefly with reports at 1 a.m. Tuesday. Many states say they will be fine without federal funds in the short-term.

    By Eric Boehm | Watchdog.org
The federal government shut down at midnight Monday after Congress was unable to reach an agreement on several budget issues.
But as Tuesday dawns, state governments will carry on with little or no negative consequences in the short-term.
Though the shutdown will limit visitors to national parks and will mean federal bureaucrats get a few days of unpaid vacation time, the effects will be little felt outside of the Washington, D.C., beltway. From New Mexico to New Jersey, state governments have contingency plans in place to deal with shortfalls of federal cash, while other states say they will hardly notice that the lights went out on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Virginia, the state with the largest percentage of federal workers, will continue federally funded programs through Friday.
“It is our hope that this will give budget negotiators additional time to reach a resolution of the budget impasse,” Martin L. Kent, Gov. Bob McDonnell’s chief of staff, wrotein a memo.
But as many as 57,000 federal workers in the state — that’s about one-third of the total — could face furloughs during the impasse.
While federal workers might get an unplanned vacation, state governments should be just fine, even when it comes to federally funded programs like welfare.
Enrique Knell, spokesman for New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, said, for now, the state anticipates having reserve balances that could be used to cover many social welfare programs.
“The Governor thinks this is a continued display of the dysfunction in Washington D.C. It’s ridiculous that states have to plan for a possible federal government shutdown, while we work hard at the state level to balance the budget and provide basic government services as efficiently and effectively as possible,” he wrote in an email to New Mexico Watchdog.
It’s “business as usual” in Pennsylvania, according to Jay Pagni, spokesman for state’s Budget Office.
“From a short-term perspective, the governor has directed all agencies that do receive federal funds that business will continue and services will continue to be provided in the short-term,” Pagni said. “We’re closely monitoring what is happening in Washington and eagerly waiting to see what resolution will come about.”
The federal government has shut down 17 times since 1976, but there has not been a shutdown since a 21-day standoff that ended on Jan. 6 1997.
Even at the federal level, this will hardly be a complete shutdown.
Three-quarters of White House staff will be sent home if Congress can’t reach a deal, but it’s not like they’ll stop the tours of the presidential mansion. Those tours ended in March as part of a highly publicized fight over the federal budgetary sequester.
The shutdown will keep park rangers from giving tours at America’s national parks, monuments and historical sites. But it may also keep the Ku Klux Klan from holding a rally at Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, so that probably counts as a wash.
Nearly all employees of the Defense Department, including those running the electronic surveillance programs at the NSA, will keep working through the shutdown. So too will the 16,000 FBI agents at 56 field offices around the nation.
The New York Times reports that “most” State Department employees will continue to work, as will “more than half” of the bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services. The Food and Drug Administration will keep inspecting food, National Wildlife Association employees will keep caring for animals in federal parks and the United States Geological Survey will keep Americans aware of any impending volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
Entitlement programs will keep on spending, and the Treasury will keep making payments on the national debt.
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail, nor a government shutdown will keep the U.S. Postal Service from delivering the mail.
The greatest impact of the government shutdown, for many Americans, may be an even greater exasperation with Washington.
“I think it’s frustration that in all the issues we have to tackle that this goes on. That’s not what those people are there to do, shut things down,” said Faye Whitbeck, president of the International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce in Minnesota. “Cooperation is the name of the game and the name of progress.”

Lindsey Graham Lies To Voters About His Vote To Defund Obamacare

1 day ago | Politics, US | Posted by Michael Lotfi
    • September 30, 2013

The heat has been turned on for Lindsey Graham, and he is feeling it. The embattled republican senator from South Carolina is relying on misleading semantics to deceive voters into reelecting him over his two serious challengers, state senator Lee Bright (R) and businesswoman Nancy Mace.
The Senate voted last week on whether or not to defund Obamacare. The vote for cloture was the last chance republicans had to stop Obamacare in the Senate. All eyes were on the cloture vote. If cloture was achieved republicans would be outnumbered on the final vote to defund Obamacare and Senate democrats would easily end all hope for those wanting Obamacare to end.
Only 19 senators (all republicans) voted no on cloture. Senator Scott, South Carolina’s replacement for Jim DeMint, joined the fight against cloture and voted no. Graham voted in favor of cloture. In total, 79 votes for cloture allowed debate to end and the final vote to take place. All knew that if the final vote was allowed to happen then Obamacare would not be defunded. However, that didn’t stop every republican in the Senate from voting against Obamacare funding on the final vote. This way they could return to their constituents, as Lindsey Graham did, and tell voters that they voted to defund Obamacare.

Lindsey Graham writes to supporters to tell them he voted to defund Obamacare

In the letter above we see a US Senator deceiving voters. Graham was not alone. Republican senators around the country played the same card in emails and social media updates telling their constituents they voted to stop Obamacare, but there was nothing more they could do. This was certainly not the case. By voting for cloture, the majority of republicans allowed for the funding of Obamacare.
