WHO IS ATTENDING THE IMMIGRATION MEETING?

Obama to hold meeting on immigration reform

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama has marshaled the likes of former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the mayors of New York and San Antonio and Philadelphia's police commissioner in an attempt to show wide and varied support for an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws.

The invitees are among a bipartisan group expected to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House Tuesday afternoon to discuss revamping the immigration system.

Besides Schwarzenegger, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro and Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, who also served as Washington, D.C., police chief, are among those invited.

In a statement issued late Monday, the White House said the president is holding the meeting to discuss the importance of fixing the nation's "broken immigration system" to meet the country's 21st century economic and national security needs.

The White House said business and religious leaders, as well as current and former public officials from across the political spectrum were to be invited. The statement was attributed to a White House senior official who was not further identified.

Obama has been under fire from Latino and immigration activists and Spanish-language media for failing to take up immigration in his first term. He has been consistently reminded of his campaign promise to address immigration early in his administration.

Although Obama has repeatedly said he is committed to immigration overhaul, the deportation of a record 393,000 immigrants last year and other enforcement tactics during his administration have drawn criticism in the immigrant and Hispanic communities.

Over the weekend, Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez, who helped rally Hispanic voters to support Obama during the 2008 campaign, told a Chicago crowd he was not sure he could back Obama in 2012 if the president did not step up immigration changes. Last week, 22 Senate Democrats sent a letter to Obama asking him to delay deportations of young undocumented immigrants who were brought into the country by their parents.

Schwarzenegger! No one cares what he says or does anymore. When he left office his approval rate was in the toilet.

I got a bad feeling in the pit of my gut, because I have a bad feeling there won't be anyone there to represent our side of this issue! By invitation only to me means one thing "closed door!" and I guess he wasn't lying about this one thing for a change! What better way to launch you're presidential campaign then grant amnesty to 30 million illegal voters! There's got to be a way to stop this from happening!

Fear not "roofer" He can have his far left wing panderfest twice a week for all I care. The Republicans control the House, and I don't see them voting for an amnesty going Into the 2012 elections. This Is all a big dog and pony show for his base. And that base Is rapidly shrinking Sorry Obama, In November 2012 "YOUR FIRED"

Obama is getting pressured big time to address this. So he can act like he is but nothing will come of it, not right now anyway.

Campaigning for the Latino vote without even leaving the oval office .

I hope the rest of the USA is watching this pandering while the stock market is dropping because of our national debt, oil prices are soaring, millions of citizens out of work and all the WH can worry about is citizens of other countries.

First, The Hispanic American voting block is not preoccupied with amnesty for illegal aliens, there main concern is the Economy, Jobs, The Deficit, Etc.

Second, Obama seen his approval rating drop like a brick during his push for the Dream Act, its highly unlikely he will touch Immigration again, he has bigger fish to fry.

Third, the american people, now more than anytime in the last 5 years are dead set against Amnesty in any form for Illegal aliens and washington knows it.

So don't worrry so much Roofer
